What SMOKING music are you listening to? (2025)

I try to teach a little here but sometime I learn too. Ran across this video and it got me wondering if Doc was still alive. He is 88 jn this video which I find amazing

What is even more amazing is that he is still alive at 98 but it is his bio that tells just what a giant talent he was, Please take a minute and read his Wiki and you'll never think of him the same.

AFRTS - Armed Forces Radio and Television Service started broadcasting in Vietnam in August of 1962 for the 11,000 advisors and other in country personnel. I couldn't find out what was the most popular songs that they played at that time but it was probably similar to what was popular in the US. Song censorship didn't really start until 1967. A number of what the civilian population considered "Vietnam" songs had little airplay in Vietnam and were spread by tapes that people brought with them when they came in country or were sent to them by family members.

That wasn't the case in 1964 though with AFRTS playing what you would hear in most of White America. Blues and R&B were not on the playlist. So, not in any order here are a few of the songs being played to the then 23,000 advisors in January to the 50,000 at the end of the year

And of course, your choice of Beatles songs.
