So I picked up one of these yesterday used for $100. Heating and cooling unit I guess. Had it plugged in all night in the basement and it reads 70 on the nose, but honestly I haven’t put any other thermometer in it, just what the unit reports out itself.

Anyway, trying to determine how many beads I should use in this thing. It’s considerably larger than my old vinotemp unit, which basically runs at whatever the room temp is because the thermoelectrics decided that they need to keep everything at 54 degrees all the time, so I leave it unplugged.

I have two of these I’ve been using in the vino. Surely I need to use more, but how much more?

Does it need to have a fan? I know it has an internal one already. Wouldn’t an additional fan need to cycle on and off on some sort of schedule to be effective?

Ah didn’t realize it had a fan already. That should suffice. Just need to circulate the air a few times a day to keep your RH stable and even throughout the unit.

I went with this old thread to determine how much beads.

I decided to run my fans constantly. The humidity stabilizes very fast after digging out what I want. Like within a minute.

Personally I wouldn't rely on the built in temp/hygrometer. Get a govee that can be calibrated w a salt test. I plan do do mine every 6 months or so.
