I feel another rock history lesson that nobody will read is due.
Today I give you the single most influential woman in rock from 1976 to 1986 - Chrissie Hynde. I back that up with - her first band in the UK had 2 members that went on to form The Damned which then considered her as a singer,. her second band included Sid Viscous who she gave guitar lessons to and Mick Jones. The first version of the Pretenders had Phil Taylor on drums who was also trying out for the drummer job with Motorhead (which he got).
Who else can claim a greater influence? The Damned went on to be the first punk band with a major label album release. Mike Jones went to The Clash, Sid Viscous to The Sex Pistols, Phil Taylor to Motorhead. Not to mention she worked for Malcolm McLaren and The New Musical Express. After all that the Pretenders hit in early 1979 with Stop You Sobbing and you know what happened after that.
Perhaps my favorite Pretenders song.

I've been going down a old school gaming rabbit hole, including Quake. The first Quake soundtrack was handled by Trent Reznor with most of it being very dark atmospheric tracks which really enhanced the horror aspects of the game. Funnily enough back in school this girl and I bonded over Quake. She being a huge fan NIN and me being a Quake nerd.

Trivia, Pt II: Although thrilled to have Mark Knopfler playing on the song, Al was disappointed in the final recording because Mark had been touring that song and playing it every night, thus it had morphed into more of a looser stage version, whereas Al's band played it spot-on, note for note, nuance for nuance -- which is what he was looking for.
