    LFD Salomones

Isy, thanks for the explainer. It's a little confusing because I believe the initial marketing for these said that 300 boxes were made. No way that's true or this guy's shop wouldn't have them, I can assure you. I guess all the sales/marketing mythology surrounding cigars is a two-edged sword...

    LFD Salomones

Yeah, this guy is not my regular B&M, but I stop in now and then because he does offer some nice prices on occasion. Have been pleasantly surprised that he started carrying more LFDs -- including the new Air Bender. Good example of why it pays to support your local B&M.

    LFD Salomones

Did Litto do a new version of the Salomon? I bought one in August and it is still resting. Today, I dropped in the same shop and discovered he was still selling them for the same nice price ($17.95) and decided to pick up a couple more. I thought it looked like a lighter colored wrapper and...

    Johnny-O! Torpedo

I have never had a Johnny-O, though the torps and shagfoots are on my must-try list. Can anyone enlighten me on the leaf used in these?

Let me know if you get up a group buy for the cazador pigtail shagfoots or the corona gordas. Thx.

30+ Inches of Snow in the Mid-Atlantic

Got about 24-27 inches here in Alexandria - hard to tell what's accurate because of the blowing/drifting. Alas, I have no snow blower. Just a couple shovels, a strong wife and a passel of kids. We've knocked out most of it and now have to get the cars out tomorrow - no way to go anywhere today...

Anyone have aged DPG JJ Maddies?

You must do that. They are lovely smokes. I had preferred the belicoso natty in this line, but the Salamone is just wonderful. Hard to go back.

Don Pepin Garcia Blue Label Lancero

I prefer the Imperiales in this line, but I was gifted one of Al's blue lanceros a while back and just loved it. In fact, it kinda helped touch off a lancero phase that I've only recently calmed down from. It's probably made me a lancero fan for life.

    Your Custom-Made Position: The Contest

Fun contest -- and I say that as the Miss Congeniality of the contestants. But hey, I'm not bitter. Not really. Although, had I seen it sooner, I might have urged a few folks to stuff the ballot boxes for me. Maybe if I'd gone with "Bit O Honey." Enjoyed it Montagieu.

La Aroma De Cuba Edicion Especial No. 5

I like the belicoso in this line (No. 5), but agree that the corona size seems to have better balance. I like these particularly because they are a bit more refined -- less of a powerhouse -- than the typical DPG blend. Anyway, my 2 cents. BTW, I really like your review format. Nice to have a...

Any good B&Ms worth looking at in Downtown DC?

Draper's is definitely worth visiting. Pretty good selection, they occasionally have some HTFs for sale if you ask and they'll let you stay and smoke a while. Not sure what your cigar tastes are, but there's also a big JR Cigar store a few blocks away (L and 17th). I've found some Opus in there...

CA's Top Cigars of the year

Ditto. But does this mean that the LFD Salamone didn't even make the top 10? That's just insane.

CA's Top Cigars of the year

Agree with you Isy. The OWR is a nice cigar, but not Top 10 material. For that matter, not sure why the Hemi is doing on that list either. I'm anxiously awaiting the Top 5.

Unless it's the Veggie Bomb from Modern's in New Haven. Or the garlic pie from Ernie's.

    AVO LE 05 OR

Very nice Greg, but I have to differ with your assessment. For me, the LE05 is the best cigar I've ever smoked. Question for you and/or others: Did they make 2 versions of this cigar - and are the ones that are still floating around at a few select retailers the version with the later wrapper...

    AVO LE 05 80th Humidor

Ok, so I'm confused. I thought there were only LE-05s, period - no OR vs. later release. Were they sold in different quantities or w/ different wrappers? Both batches I have bought claim to be LE-05s but nobody mentioned OR to me. Can you find folks enlighten further?

    AVO LE 05 80th Humidor

So, what's the difference between the 80th humidor and the OR LE-05? I have some ORs but have never tried the others. I'm asking because I got a just landed some more LE-05s and wonder if they are the later release. Thanks.

La Aroma De Cuba Edicion Especial No. 4

Greg, I'm glad you reviewed one of these - and even happier that you liked it! The EEs are one of my favorites right now, though I haven't managed to snag one of the lanceros yet. I've enjoyed most of the other vitolas, particularly the torpedo. Kudos on another terrific review. BTW, that...

    Padron Cigars

I tend to agree on Padron, even though I can honestly say I do not smoke as many of them as I do Pepins, LFDs and a smattering of others. But I am working my way through a batch of Padron churchill maduros I bought about 2 years ago and have to say they are the best "bargain" cigar I have ever...
