    1999 Romeo Y Julieta Churchills...Fake?

bludog, pm me the name of the vendor and hopefully I can put your mind at ease. The vendor is correct when talks about the terrible quality control back in the late 90's.

If there is 1 cigar I should smoke...and one drink I should drink!

I would got to Casa Fuente and buy a Casa Fuente cigar. They are an Opus X with a Cameroon wrapper and can be had for about 18 bucks. They are a wonderful cigar with great flavors. I would take the cigar to a bar that is not expensive and have Grand Marnier with it. The sweetness of the drink...

    Buyer Beware

Good job Tony. Definitely dispute the charge with your CC company. I have a friend who lives in Toms River and he told me years ago that this guy was a scumbag. He never goes into his store anymore and he lives right around the corner from him.

    Is there a wine cooler

Flyfish has given some great info on this thread but I do have to disagree with this statement: " You only have to keep it below 75" That is I'm sorry to say wrong. Beetles will hatch even at 72 degrees. You need to keep the unit below 70 degrees and the perfect temps are 65-67. I have the...

    Cigar lounges

I would never pay to hang out at a cigar lounge. The place I used to hang out at in Rhode Island( Regency Cigar) before I moved here to Florida had a nice lounge and it didn't cost anything. I spent a good amount of money there and I also made it my business to get him customers. He has a...

    Stupid Question

mealstrom, your statement : " Even though I've only used one very reputable vendor (and a lot of friends from another board) to get ISOMs I've still gotten the occasional fake." If this is a reputable vendor then you should never get any fakes, not even one cigar. If you don't mind, pm me...

    Stupid Question

Shrink wrapping is never done in Cuba. None of the vendors I have used over the years do this, but that doesn't mean that some don't. In general Hoyo Epi 2's are not counterfitted. Usually it is Cohiba, Montecristo and RyJ that are the most counterfitted brands.

    Padilla 1948

Mercado Libre, sorry but I will disagree with your statement; " I will grant that Don Pepin's quality control is outstanding, perhaps second only to Hendrik Kelner's." I know a lot of guys who smoke Peppins stuff and many of them complain they have construction issues with most of his lines...

Opinions on El Rico Habano Cigars.....?

El Rico's were mostly Dominican tobacco with an Ecuadorian sun grown wrapper. I just noticed that Holt's has them listed as Ecuadorian wrapper, but binder and filler to be Nicaraguan. If this is true then that is something totally new. The ones I smoked years ago had no Nic tobacco in them at...

    Vinotemp Malfunction

John, call Vintoemp and ask them how much they will charge for the 700 Napoleon Wine & Cigar if they take out the wine stuff. This unit is the same size as mine. Also my friend Ekert who you met the other night at Maduros just bought a unit the same size as mine. If you want to talk to him...

    Thank You Moki

I got a package in the mail yesterday from Andrew that totally blew me away. These were a special cigar that I had not been able to get in on when they were available a few years ago. I guess I must have mentioned them when we were hanging out together at CFC in Key West last June, because I...

    Buyer Beware

The retailer in question has had more than enough time to fix the problem. If you cannot get in touch with this vendor on the phone by the close of business on Monday, then you need to out this vendor so none of the rest of CP gets burned by this guy. I would also contact your credit card...

    Juan Lopez Seleccion #1

These are definitely one of my favorite mild to medium Cuban cigars. They are great in the morning with coffee or after lunch when I am looking for something on the lighter size. What is also very nice about these is that usually they are good to go after only 5 years, where as most corona...

    What did you smoke today

I started the day with a Fuente Destino Al Siglo 13( Thanks Moki ). Then tried for the first time a La Aurora Barrel Aged Corona, what a dog rocket. Next smoked a Tat red label Victoria After a massive amount of sushi for dinner lit up a 1997 Partagas Seleccion Privada 1. Last cigar of...

    Pepin JJ, Padron 64

While I have enjoyed the couple of JJ's I have smoked, they are not in the same league as the Padron 64 Maddies. To my tastes there is no Nicaraguan cigar out there that produces the classic Nic flavors and complexities that the 64 does. At 9 bucks a stick for the Exclusivo and Monarca, I will...

    Recommendations

To my tastes the RYJ with the 3 years is a no brainer over any VR. A well aged RyJ Churchill is one of my favorite all time cigars. They really start to develop when they have at least 6-7 years on them.

    Temp controlled humi

I have a VinoTemp humidity and temp controlled unit that has been running for almost 8 years now. I keep the temp at 65-67 degrees and the humidity at about 60-62 percent. The reason I keep mine at the levels they are at, is because years ago I read an article about the tobacconists JJ Fox and...

    Is SPANISH Cedar necessary?

Spanish cedar does nothing to curb a beetle outbreak. If you are looking to save money, Honduran mahogany is an inexpensive alternative to Spanish cedar.
