What's your favorite dark horse brand?

Maybe not so much a dark horse (since I know plenty of folks who stash away 50-count boxes of their Rothschilds as a go-to cigar), but I've always thought that Punch was one of the best full-bodied cigars for the price. For me, I prefer the London Club or the After Dinner, both of which are...

Cubao Goes exclusive to Thompson. Retailers may still buy.

I, too, discovered their lanceros back in late 2008 when I was down in Georgia. Unfortunately, couldn't find anyone who carries them back home (to buy single sticks) and my humi was a little too full for yet another box of Pepin-made smokes to buy a box online. But yeah.........I'd rather...

    Kinky Friedman’s The Governor

I swear I remember reading an account on some forum that Kinky even privately said he hates his own cigars  I doubt he's given up his Montecristo No. 2's for them. :sign:

    Montecristo No. 4 ‘70s

Wow! Looks like it even has that wonderful, perfectly hemispherical "marble head" on it too. They don't make 'em like they used to! Thanks for sharing!

    Crown Royal Reserve

I always seem to find them at great prices in the PX and it's one of my favorite Canadian whiskies too. One or two small ice cubes and a mild-medium Havana....nothin' better! The Cask No. 16 is also VERY good, if you don't mind paying a little more for it....it's worth it!

    The Partagas Culebras

Very nice! I've only ever had one each of the old machine-made and new hand-made Culebras. Very nice smoke, burns and draws fantastic (especially considering the abuse it takes in getting wetted and braided together). Also, the enormous Partagas band is very nice for posing as the centerpiece...

The Brothers are at it again....

I just heard a news story on NPR a few weeks ago with the rumors of the ration cards being abolished. From what I understand, as it stands now, the average Cuban can't really keep him/herself fed well on the ration card alone...but it's enough to keep you from totally starving to death. And...

How to make a Cuban Cafe con Leche

Anyone brave enough to try it with salt and butter yet? I admit I haven't yet.

    Bad experience with Montecristo

Nothing pisses me off quite like a plugged cigar. Don't worry though, it happens every once in a while. They are an entirely handmade product (meaning, not perfect).

    punch royal coronations tubos

I know that now all the formerly machine-made cigars (except the ICT-made stuff, like minis and clubs) is now hand-made...but is it also long-filler too?

    Indiana Cigar Smoking

I work at the Crane Naval Surface Warfare Center sou th of B-town. There, because of all the long-forgotten ordnance potentially littering the roadsides and woodlines, you can't smoke just anywhere (not even in your car driving). They have designated "smoke shacks" that are little metal and...

    Indiana Cigar Smoking

I hear ya, bro. About the only time I get to enjoy one is on the way to work (long drive). Where in the Hoosier State are you? I'm originally from New Albany, across the river from Louisville. Currently live in Bloomington. And used to live in Chicago (but know lots of Region rats on the...

    Fake Cuban Cigar Site

Wow, spammers these days! Maybe he's just posting to discredit and draw customers away from one of his spamming rivals....while he's busy spamming and shilling for his own fake-peddling site under another username!

Parents just got back from cruise with my Bottle of JW Blue

Nice score! I don't get to travel out of country much....mostly to Canada, and the US duty free is ALWAYS BETTER than the Canadian duty free coming out. The one in Pierre Trudeau Int'l Airport was a friggin joke! They were selling JW Black for $40! And not the 1 liter, just the...

How to make a Cuban Cafe con Leche

Made one this morning and enjoyed it on the way to work with a Partagas Short. Life is good! :) I used to think you had to have an espresso machine to make cafe cubano or cafe con leche, but recently find out there is another way. Of course, you can do this just as easily with an espresso...

Looking for Cigar recommendations to go with Scotch

Speysides pair pretty easy with most everything...but I do find pairing cigars with Islay whiskies to be a bit more challenging.

    The Letters - Update December 21, 2008

You should give a little more detail, but what you're describing sounds like just a confiscation letter. That does still happen, but rarely does anything come of, except a nasty little letter and having your cigars confiscated. The letter from OFAC that this thread describes would just arrive...

    Just got back from honeymoon..

The glass top Cohiba rides again! Good job haggling him down, though. Sometimes fakes can be decent smokes....other times, they're dog dookie. Congrats on your marriage, I just got hitched in September.

Best of luck with the new line! If you make a good product and get the buzz going here on CP and other boards, you're sure to have a winner.

    Seeking Advice

When I first started out and didn't have a lot of dough to spend on smokes, I myself was grabbing a lot of petit coronas and smaller sized cigars. They give you a good value and let you try out different brands to get an idea of which ones you prefer. And today, petit corona is just about the...
