    Selecting a "nice" cigar

For something that won't kick your ass to heavily, you might also consider something from the Cabiguan line or the JJ line. Also in addition to the LE7, Avo's othjer stuff is quite tasty while remaining in the medium range with regard to strength.

    I don't get it... I like Padrón 1964 and 1926 more than Opus X

For me the order is 26, 64, Opus. I will admit though that Opus makes for some teriffic trade bait when seeking out HTFs.

    The Great Wrapper Chase

'Although the Cuban Belicoso is a decent stick, IMO, it is not the best benchmark for a sungrown wrapper' Would have to agree although I do enjoy these. The 858SG on the other hand... well, they're sheer smoking bliss.

    CAO New Release...

'Great idea, judging a cigar by it's band. No one cares when the Brazilia and Italia lines are released, but release an America line and you've obviously got an agenda!! And by a foreign company? Good god... I hope you're staying away from those foreigners in the Dominican Republic, Nicaragua...

What cigars would you have in your humi after you hit the big bucks

Mucho aged ISOMs. 80s ISOM Davidoffs, 25 year old Monte A's, those multi colored HTF AFs that you pretty much only see on Moki's site, boxes & boxes of Graycliff Espresso Elegantes, tons of OR Anejo 46 & 77's piles of VSG rounds heaps of 858 Rosados mounds of 858 Sungrown stacks of '98...

    CAO New Release...

Blatent coopting of our nation's flag to sell what will no doubt be an overpriced, substandard cigar. And by a company now based on forign soil no less. I will never buy or smoke these. (I don't smoke any of their products anyway as I have found them to be for the most part quite distasteful...

What about Old Ironsides for that gotta have Latakia taste?

    Pipes in the winter

Agreed, packing a small bowl will get you out of the cold and into a warmer climate sooner then lighting a cigar would , (unless one is given to smoking very small cigars!) Yet there is also another benefit to piping in the Winter. Namely that holding a warm, (not scalding, no pipe should be...

    my "new" Peterson Churchwarden

Carnuba and a variable speed buffing wheel work nicely on stems and don't leave one's hands blistered. Bowl sweetner seems to work nicely for getting the inside of the pipe ready for smoking. Just my .02 FWIW.

    Building a piper's palate

I find Old Ironsides to be a Latakia lover's dream come true. If you want to taste Latakia in all its glory, a 50 gram tin would turn the trick for you. Frog Morton would also work although it is not as Latikiaish as Old Ironsides. Hope this helps.
