Since you have all the bands id take some kind of wooden board and place the bands on like so: Glue them and maybe place some sort of clear finish over the top give it all a shiny smooth look and it would keep the bands from deteriorating and crumbling or whatever could happen to them exposed...

I also have an Epiphone Les Paul Standard. I love it. I'm more of an acoustic guy though... I have an Olympia that I absolutely love. Play before you buy for sure. I've been playing for 3 years and I taught myself from tabs. I play everyday mostly while reading up on here. :)
