BBQ Herf, Thread for plans and roster

OK, everyone. We have let this thread languish long enough. This herf is only 3 weeks away. So, I think we need to decide on a herf contest. That is, a contest for the members of CP that were not able to attend. Let's think of something creative (or simple, doesn't matter to me ;)). Could...

    LFD Mysterio

First day? Hell, they sold out by 11 am. LFD was my third stop on the first day and they were already gone. :( I did get the Mysteros, however. :p Can't remember the ship date, but hopefully it will be soon.

    1st Annual Central Virginia Herf

At the request of one of my local tobacconists, I am posting the information on the 1st Annual Central VA Herf. It is scheduled for 5-9 pm on the 19th of August, 2006. It will be located at the King's Family Vineyard in Crozet. A flyer (though a small version) can be viewed below. Note...

    2006 RTDA attendee's

Good stuff, Moki. The other thing that struck me were the number of manufacturers trying to come up with an answer to the Rocky Patel Edge. Of course, Camacho did this last year with the Legend-Ario. This year, both Alec Bradley and Gurkha moved into that market. I sampled the Alec Bradley...

BBQ Herf, Thread for plans and roster

GEEEEEEZ! A guy goes out to Vegas, attends the RTDA, gets to try all kinds of new sticks, and you bust his chops for not posting? :p I'm back on, ready for this herf. Can't wait.

    Uppman PC opinions?

Love the Upmann PC. I have been smoking regularly from a box of 01s and have sampled from a box of 03s. Both have been very good with the 01s taking the nod. Tons of that wonderful Upmann sweet-musty earth flavor with some nuttiness as well. Excellent little smokes. As for other PCs...my...

    Sack!

So, last night, I was sitting around with my wife and a friend, sipping some very nice Speyburn 10 year old Highland Malt. We were having some good conversation...just talking about things in general. What does that have to do with Sack? Well, he sent me the scotch in a most unexpected...

    Young, Sick, Aged

Yep, I agree with you on the degree of sealing/isolation as well. I was attempting to keep my answer as simple as possible and focused only on the fermentation reactions that cause the ammonia. Of course, over time, this ammonia breaks down into various bi-products. This is primarily due to...

    New Taboada Thread

Nope, it's not just you. :p I've smoked a handful of these. Great cigars without question. Unique blend (at least the ones I've smoked). Perfect construction. However, they are not better than some of my favorites among regular production Habanos that I pay $8-$12 a stick for. Unique...

    What do you think of...

I've smoked quite a few of the Brevas and Cremas...I like them. However, they are what they are, a straight forward, rustic smoke. There is no finesse, just Cuban tobacco flavor. Lot's of it too. I prefer these over the Quinteros that I have smoked.

    Young, Sick, Aged

Actually, I cannot completely agree with this statement or series of statements. While I do agree that if the cigars still smell of ammonia, they should not be smoked. They are clearly in the middle of a fermentation process and will most likely has an ammonia taste as well. However, just...

    CIGARDAWG

I look at a humidor kind of like a wallet/billfold. It should never be sent empty. :p Enjoy the sticks.

    girl that smokes

My wife smokes cigars with me as well. She has a fantastic palate and it is a lot of fun to sit and compare cigars, talk about the flavors, and share in the whole experience. No light bodied cigars or flavors for her...she likes her Island smokes, Opus, and Padron 1964/1926s.

    How Full are Your Boxes?

This is typically what I do as well. However, I only consolidate the same cigars with one another (e.g., RASS from 04 with RASS from 05, etc.). I almost always need room for boxes. Unfortunately, I have none right now. :( I am also out of room in my singles drawers. I would move singles to...

    RTDA Herf

Smokyballs has it right. This is not a place for the general public. If you are not there to buy merchandise for a shop or are a rep for a company, you don't really have any business being there. It kind of just turns into a free Big Smoke event and gets treated as such. I am not in the...

    Is it a personal preference?

As for mold wiping off...depends on the type of mold. The small while spores easily wipe off without damage to the cigar. The blue-green stuff, no way. Toss the stogie. :( As for bloom/plume, it is just crystallized oils from the wrapper (I know there is at least one differing theory as to...
