No the pallette is the roof of the mouth it has both hard(forward) and soft(back) tissue.The toungue is the toungue but it has all the taste buds the pallette has no taste mechinism.

When you dip net them are they starting to decompose yet?I remember fishing for coho and chinook in michigan and when they got a certain way up the river they started to decompose, thats when you could snag hook them and dip net them.
