Tower Cigars is on 'The List'

Now THAT'S a good cigar. I have a few left and even talking to Pete Johnson in person a couple weeks ago didn't produce much hope on getting another box. However, there's a rumor that a buddy of mine in Hawaii has been kind enough to put some on an air plane for me. Best of luck hunting...

    cutting vs punching....

Ditto. I use a Xikar or Palio double guillotine on torps and thinner rings (38-46ish). I snag my punch for the bigger barrel stuff (48-54). I typically don't smoke anything over a 54 ring guage and even that's rare.

Great cigar, for sure. I enjoy the enchantment a lot as well. And they age great!

    Torano Sampler

I think Carlos makes some good stuff. If i had to put them in order of enjoyment, i would say: 1. Signature Collection (good smoke, decent price) 2. Exodus Gold 1959 (daily smoke, great price) 3. 1916 Cameroon (good smoke, although i don't get them often) 4. Virtuoso (decent, will smoke a...

    Newbie Humidor Questions

If you plan on staying active around these parts or on any other cigar forums i'd recommend picking up some Heartfelt beads (maybe 1/2 pound) and starting a small tupperdor. When you outgrow that, you can get a cooler. And once you've filled a few of those, it'll be time to get your humi -- a...

    Opus X Fuente Fuente

We have a couple authorized dealers around here. They both have reasonable mark ups from the above msrp list. For example, Rain City sells the petite lanceros for $11.79 (with a limit of one per person per day - however, it pays to have friends that work there - lol) and Tinder Box sells the...

    Bolivar Gold Medal - 2007

Great review, bro. I've got one of these floating around in the cabinet and was planning on putting a year or two on it before firing her up. As a wine maker i don't have too many problems with patience. However, i have heard that CC's are coming off the truck a lot better in recent years due...

    Kick ass smoke

The two most recent cigars that i really enjoyed and stood out amongst the rest were the Padilla Signature '32 Lancero and a Partagas Serie Du Connoisseur No.1 ("islander"). Both are longer, thinner ringed cigars which i've been finding quite tasty lately. I think it must have something to...

Next time you have a bad day...

On your way home from work, stop at your local pharmacy and purchase a rectal thermometer made by Johnson & Johnson. When you get home, lock your doors, draw the curtains and disconnect the phone so you will not be disturbed. Change into comfortable clothing and sit in your favorite chair...

    Question about Port

Ports are among my favorite wines. I'd think that as all things organic the peak periods are going to vary depending on the type of wine and the vintage year. The same exact grape produced by the same vineyard may have varying peak dates depending upon the vintage year due to weather and...

    A Little Advice Please

Ditto on the beads. Worry free. I used them in my coolers for years and still use them to help equalize the RH in the upper portion of my cabinet. I stopped used a hygro completely after noting the stability of the RH with the beads over a period of several months. 68/68 sounds like perfect...

Well it was only a matter of time.....

Same story, different BOTL. I remember my first cooler. I was overwhelmed with all the space i had compared to my 2 little 50ct desktops. Yeah, that didn't last but a few months and i was playing box tetris in no time. Coolers have a habit of multiplying like rabbits. When i...

Pics From Don Pepin Tasting At Belicoso's

Just read this...i know, i'm a little slow. Lot's of catching up to do here. Looks like a great time, Wade. Unfortunately i missed both the Pepin events here not too long ago. The company has been going crazy this year, but i'm not complaining. I did, however, get to catch...

    Single malt scotch suggestions

Dalmore 12 is decent, i'm not a fan of their "Cigar Malt" though. One of the most inexpensive, but impressive bottles of scotch out there IMHO is Aberlour 10yr. The 12 is good too, but for $32, the 10yr is as good as many more expensive 12's out there. Might want to give that a shot. I've...
