A question regarding single barrel whiskey

I've worked in distilleries all my adult life. Currently for William Grant & Sons, and formerly for Laird & Company. I worked at Lairds when it was owned by Hiram Walker, and during that period, dumped tens of thousands of barrels of whiskey for their products. They had 3 barrel warehouses...

    question for AVB

I've worked in distilleries all my adult life. When an older bottle of spirits has volume loss, it's not the water that's evaporated, it's the alcohol, since it's more vaporous. If you checked it, you'd find the proof was lower then that on the label.

    Glenugie 27yo Highland Scotch

I was always under the impression that Ladyburn (1973?) single malt Scotch would be THE, or at least one of, the top most sought after collectible silent distillery Scotches.

    Colheita Port?

CigarDawg: I believe you are right. The wine guy at work told me it's similar to a vintage, but yet not one. I asked a Portuguese friend of mean the definition of Colheita, and he says it translates into English as HARVEST. So as near as I can tell, it simply means 1975's harvest from that...

    Del Duenos Anejo

If the bottle didn't have a light green tint to it, it may have possibly been a line extension called JEREZITO. Did it have a black label? Michael

    Del Duenos Anejo

CigarDawg: I'm curious, was the bottle you're referring to Reserva Del Dueno? A short squatty handmade bottle with a light green tint to it? Michael

    Colheita Port?

I recently acquired 2 bottles of Quinta do Noval 1975 Colheita. I've been told that the term/title Colheita is similar to a Vintage description. Any input would be appreciated.

    Buy your own cask!

A standard cask holds 55 gallons filled to the brim. If the cask is 35 years old, and has lost 40% of it's contents, that means it's down to 33 gallons. Since there's 2.377548 gallons to a case of twelve 750ml bottles, that'd give you 13.88 cases or 166.5 bottles at cask strength. The only way...
