    The Glenlivet Archive

I loved this scotch when it was $75. At its current price there are better options for me.

UPDATE: It's STILL a boy and hes on track for July 4th. I decided on the MY Fathers. I smoked one recently and really enjoyed it and decided that will be the cigar for my son's birth. It seems apropos. I will also buy some Fuente's It's a Boy for the non-cigar smokers. Thanks all for the...

    A flight of SMSW

I am sure many of have seen or ordered the flight of tawny port wine. 10, 20, and 40 year. I always thought it would be really cool to have a flight of 1 SMSW from each region in Scotland. Lowlands, Highlands, Island, Islay, Speyside, and Campbeltown To make it even cooler they should allow...

    Armagnacs

Adding to AVB's posting about region, the other major difference is the number of distillations, I am almost positive Armagnac is one less distillation than cognac and sometimes carries more bite. I do feel the more Armagnac ages the better it gets. I find this true more so with Armagnac than...

    Hennessey Cognac

I would agree the Paradis is way better than the XO, but I prefer something like Tesseron Lot 29. I have tried sticking with smaller cognac houses as they still have the passion and dont take the shortcuts of the big 4. Recently, I cracked open Daniel Bouju that is barrelproof. Wow, what an...

    Templeton Rye

There was an entire thread on sb.com about this rye. I think someone there got in touch with the owner of templeton and he admitted to having bought aged rye product from another distillery. Not sure if he admitted the age though. If I find the thread I'll post any facts that are known...

    Crystal Head Vodka

I am starting to see it all over NJ. I suspect it wont be great (although I could be dead wrong), just a really cool bottle.

Looking for Port and Sherry recomendations

Unless you purchase a traditional or unfiltered LBV. Those do require filtering and decanting and can be be cellared. There are the minority of LBVs sold though.

    Carribean Rums

I dont think I will be sailing with them anymore as there were other issues. I went to the DFS on day 1 (when no one was there) and scoped out all the goods. Nearly everything was overpriced until he I asked about the RZ XO and he said $70. I literally laughed out loud. I said I will take...

Looking for Port and Sherry recomendations

Do you have a price range? I tend to stick with LBVs and Crusted port as they have more body and are less sticky sweet than tawnies.

Online retailer to buy singles from

I like to buy a variety of cigars like 10-15 at a time and smoke them until I find something I really like then buy a box of it. I use cigar.com yet they tend to be more expensive, but I like how I can choose singles very easily and they have a large selection. Any other good sites out there...

    Carribean Rums

On my cruise ship they had the Zacapa XO (25 year). More elegant than its 23 year younger brother. The Xo is not available in the US and on the ship went for $70.

Can anyone recommend a more sherry scotch?

I second the Aberlour a'bunadh!! 100% sherry wood aged. Its the most intense sherry scotch I have ever had. Also, barrelproof. More sherry than Mac or Balv DW IMO.

    Give me Rye whiskey

Templeton Rye isnt available in NJ or at least I dont think so. The story on their website (a rather nice website to be honest) is a bit of a stretch and the good people at sb.com researched it to the point where they found out (if my memory serves me correctly) that Templeton Rye was indeed...

    The Bar

I have a bit more than 25 bottles in my bar, but if I had to have only 25 for my guests. Ill add some specific brands I would choose as well. Vodka - 3 Something to mix and something better for Martinis or shots and something flavored (Rain for mixing and Chopin for martinis and Hangar One...
