What is your 'go to' cigar?

On the golf course, I smoke an AF Double Chateau Fuente SG on the front 9, and an LGC Churchill (maduro) on the back 9. For yard work, my go to is either an AF 858 (natural) or a H. Upmann Corona Major tubo. Any other time, I reach for only the goooooda stuff. :)

Looking at my 401(k) statements... :(

    Opus X online?

My understanding is that that cigar retailers with Fuente accounts are prohibited from selling Opus X on-line or via phone. Fuente wants the Opus X to drive business INTO the shoppes, which is something on-line/phone sales fail to do. To me, that explains why the only Opus X you see for sale...

Looking for a cigar holder for the golf course

Like the others above, I use the CigarMinder and it does the trick for me. I clip it onto my bag when I'm walking (98% of the time), and clip it onto the cart when I'm riding.

Going back to Philly, to Philly, to Philly!

I was in Philly for the first time last month, and had an incredible cheesesteak sub at Campo's on Market Street. Steak, peppers and "wit" (cheese whiz, I think). Damn it was good...

Have you seen the Fuente LE Gift sets at Holts?

No thanks. Fuente does make some great cigars, but not at those prices. I'll buy a couple boxes of Cubans at those prices. With the economy and stock market the way it is right now, it'll be interesting to see how well these sell.

My lighter is dying. Help me for a new one.

Same here. For $3, you get a damn fine lighter that only requires regular butane (not 2x/3x/4x refined). It works great and it if breaks or you lose it, you're only out $3. I've been using mine for a year with no problems. Never had any luck with the Colibris I bought.

Does anyone have an opinion on Segundos?

For the price, Old Fashioned cigars aren't that bad. They used to be my "golf course" and yard cigars. From what I remember, there are three "series" - one is supposedly seconds of Macanudo, one is of Partagas and the other is Hoyo de Monterrey.

BBQ Sauce, who makes the best retail sauce?

I'm also a fan of Sweet Baby Ray's. Love the flavor and it's widely available. I hate having to order stuff, and pay the extra for S&H, so it's nice to be able to pick this up at local grocery stores.

Ashton VSG: Illusion or Corona Gorda

Illusion - hands down. This is my favorite non-HTF cigar.

Eat dinner outside at McCormick and Schmick's, and then enjoy a cigar afterwards overlooking the Inner Harbor.

    People dropping like flies

My g/f is an underwriting manager for CountryWide. What a frickin' zoo that place is. Poorly run, poorly managed, unbelievable demands put on the remaining staff. She'd love to get out of there, but there is just nothing similar available in our area.

    Need Advice

I'll second the recommendation of Fuentes and Padrons. Also, the La Gloria Cubana line is affordable, and delivers good quality for the $$$. Try the Churchills - they last me 9 holes on the course, and sell for less than $80 for a box of 25.

    favorite golf cigar

AF Double Chateau Fuente (SG), and either a LGC Series R #5 (maddie) or a LGC Churchill (maddie). Each one lasts 9-holes. Sometimes I'll bring an Anejo along, but I'd rather smoke those when they are the focus, not the little white ball I'm trying to maneuver around the course.

    What lessons have you learned?

Smoke what YOU like, not what other people think you should like. Some people like Opus X, others don't. Same goes for all of the other "hot" cigars (Tatauje, Pepin, etc.). Find what you like, smoke it and enjoy it.
