A thank you to a B&M in NC

I just wanted to express my thanks to a shop that took care of my extreme need while on a business trip to the Carolinas. Sorry it's been a few days, I should have posted as soon as I got back. I had flown into Charlotte NC on a Wednesday with just a couple of cigars. I was to visit a customer...

    Gifted a Casa Fuente

My son-in-law brought one back from LV for me, and it seems beautiful. He says it's a Fuente Fuente Opus X in a Cameroon wrapper. True? If so, this should be one very enjoyable cigar! I like a lot of Padrons (OK, all of 'em!), and smoke a lot of Nicaraguan cigars with Maduro warappers. Going...

Driving MA to PA, where to get sticks?

While I agree with you about cheap cigars to an extent, with the sheer number that I smoke (especially while driving long distances) I can't justify buying lots of expensive ones. I have found there's a few bundled cigars that are downright acceptable, and the one I gravitate toward always has a...

    Picking my first motorcycle

Thanks. Quite the opposite experience for me with regard to fuel. I get between 48 and 52mpg with the 955i lump, and it was the same for the Sprint. I suppose that's the difference in the engine tune levels for the 128hp Daytona vs. the 105hp for the Tiger & Sprint. If I really ride the wheels...

Driving MA to PA, where to get sticks?

I'm driving from central Massachusetts over to York/Lancaster area tomorrow, and would love to know of a place out there where a BOTL could visit there or along the way. Someplace with GOOD selection, perhaps some choice of bundled cigars, would be good. I imagine I'll be taking I-84 out to...

    Picking my first motorcycle

I've ridden dozens of different bikes and owned a few. I've become rather fond of the Triumph triples. I find they are the nicest blend, in terms of motor. The 3 cylinder lump has the broad torque band of a twin, but with the top end rush of a 4. I'm on my 3rd one now, and went from a "sport...

    Awkward situ

I often do, as there's a convenience store/gas station a mile from my home that has 3 big humidors that were planted there by the Altadis and General Cigar reps. There's not too many good deal or good cigars in them, but I buy a few per week to help insure that there will always be a dealer...

    Awkward situ

I went to my favorite shop yesterday to pick up sticks. It's on the NH side of the MA/NH border, and the big building houses a NH State Liquor Store, a Subway sub shop, a convenience store, and Tobacco Haven. Well, when I arrived I found a mother and two sub-5 year-old children had a card table...

    i've got to know....

Since I only started smoking the good ones in earnest back in 1998 or so.... Just about 6 Ramon cigars that were made to accompany the Partagas 150's. I had some of each, and that the Ramon's were a little better. What year they were made, I'm not certain but I think is was around 1996.

Smoking at my cigar shop now ILLEGAL

Here in Taxachusetts, there is also a ban on smoking in any workplace. The sole EXCEPTION is that if a business derives 51% or more of its gross income from the sale of tobacco, smoking can be allowed. That law spurned the birth of a dozen or so "cigar bars" statewide. In those places, you must...

    Got the axe today

Not to hijack your thread, but the same thing happened to me. I'm also 48, BTW. I had taken a new job because of a layoff. I worked there 7 months, and I could tell there was some agitation with the GM and Pres, though as its common to see, no direct feedback about what they weren't happy with...

    Acid Cigars

Amen, Brother. Tobacco-flavored tobacco for me, and so with coffee. Coffee-flavored coffee, and never at the mercy of condiments to enjoy how it really tastes.

    Perdomo cigars

While I prefer things like Ashton VSG, Padron '64's and '26's, Opus X and DPG Series JJ's and a lot of others, they're too much money for a guy like me who lights up 3-5 per day. So, my everyday walkaround stick is the Perdomo Fresco Toro Mad. About a bundle a week of them. Sure, they get hot...

    Worst Smelling Cigars

    For All Those Patriot Fans

Meh, no big deal. All the teams have been doing this in one way or another since time immemorial. What's the difference between video taping it, photographing it, or just standing there making notes? One's against the rules, that's all. Go Pats! :D

Anyone comment on H. Upmann Chairman's Reserve?

:( That's a disappointment, but I should have known better with the Connecticut Shade wrapper. It looks more like a mild R&J than a good H. Upmann. I'll burn it sooner then, and replace it with a Padron Millenium or La Aurora Preferido.

    What a night!

My brother is a fan of the single malt scotch. I've developed a little bit of a taste myself, but certainly not an aficionado of that. My fav so far is the 12 yr Macallan, preferred over their own 18yr.

    What do you drive?

And a 2005 Triumph Tiger for 2-wheeled fun. Nice Merc, BTW. VERY nice.

    What a night!

Great story, thanks for sharing. I've started stopping by my daughter's place more often to smoke and share with my son-in-law. He's starting to become a real aficinado, and loves to talk about the sticks he gets. He's been getting into some of the higher-priced La Aurora's and Ashton's, but I...
