I find that Nicaraguan cigars tend to have the closet similarities to Cuban tobacco. If I had to mention a brand, it'd be Pepin.

Haven't bought from them in a long time, but I have used these guys in small humidors/jars/etc with great success. I use the particularly for my travel humidors. Boveda packs work well too, however I believe they're all disposable. Check ebay, amazon, etc and you can probably find a better deal.

If you're going with a cooler, I recommend RH beads. I've used them for years for long term storage in coolers, and they work flawlessly. They do a great job at absorbing/dispersing humidity to keep an even RH. And you don't need to keep replacing them. Just mist some more distilled water on...
