Cubancigarwebsite details the different time of changes in bands very well.

Some of the bands from '93 to '03 that were supposed to have 2 dots above only had one. I was scared off a box of those because I didn't know about that detail. The...
This is a shot of the page. On the right side the band is halfway through the dots. It's easier to see up close, but the band definitely ends in a white dot.
Some have bigger gaps than others above the white dots row also.
One of the pics on cubancigarwebsite shows a band misaligned on...
I agree. The bands are not aligned perfectly, but Min Ron Nee's book shows Cohiba bands that aren't perfect also. I unravelled the pigtails except for one in an effort to get a picture, and see the leaf shape they cut to twist a pigtail.
They came from a private collection, and he did me a...

Habana
A truly special smoke filled hour. Rolled perfectly, not overfilled or too tight. The draw was smoooth and effortless. Herbal, cedar, spice, twang, nuts, salt, peat. Wow.
Thanks for clarifying the band issues! Do you have pics of any that are uniform and proper?
I do know they had 2 different but similar bands in the 80s. The dots and top spacing were different. If they cut the top different would it be illogical to think the length was cut different also...
I am 100% confident that if these end up being fake the person who shared them with me would refund immediately. That does help take the sting away.
The other factor is the flavors were so damn good, and cohibaesque, it was a great smoke.
Reality is what it is, I'd rather learn and know...
Agreed!
They tasted very Cohiba to me. I have had a fair amount of Cohiba, from the mid 90s to current. These were my first 80s Cohibas. The flavor was distinctly Cohiba.
The person who's collection they came from is as legit as it gets. They have been personally collecting for decades...

Early '50s
1st third: ashey paper with hints of almond, mild wood, with puffs of flavor tying to get through. Ehhh.
2nd third: The band loosened up, and I found a significant crack under it. Covered with my finger and she immediately livened up. Bigtime...
Thank you for the info, I appreciate you sharing the knowledge. And am happy to learn. Let me get a pic of the one pigtail that is undisturbed. I kinda messed those ones up trying to get them to stand up for a picture. I know, rookie move. What does a pigtail from 80s look like normally...
I have had 2. Draw was a bit tight on one, other was normal. Very nice experiences, they are definitely a different level of flavor melding, with great nuance. Still full flavored, with a nice effect.
I care if they are real or fake. I refuse to buy or deal with fakes, my $ would be much...
I'm new at it also. I have done a really deep dive on the nuances, and am always looking to learn more. Open sponge here, no ego or desire to feel right, I'd rather become educated about reality.
Hoping to learn more!
Thank you for your feedback. Vintage Cohiba bands had variations within the bands. Some were more square, some were rounded. Some were supposed to have 2 rows of dots above "cohiba" but only had one.
One thing I have learned is only buy or trade from sources I trust. I trust this source...
