The joke I had in the Vherf the other day was, "I can smoke Cubans or just pick my cocaine habit up again and save some money instead." Fortunately for us, JohnnyO has some good sticks to help bridge the gap and make it hurt a bit less.
Yall ever buy a sampler pack from cigar page because its a good deal, then get a package from them the same day only to realize you received the exact sampler you just bought? Because guess what I did...
My first No9. Half inch in and I already get it. Like this more than the Unico Papas I had already and that wasn't a bad stick. Wish you didn't have to fight tooth and nail just to get these.
Johnny's EL lancero. Sweet earth, vanilla, isom terroir and a note I can't pin. Only an inch in and loving it. Tighter draw but I didn't drybox and the perfecdraw did its job. Nerve-wracking doing a lancero for my first use lmao.
Gather round, Boils and Ghouls, we got another Davidoff review today. @wrussell46 said that this was a good smoke and I'm seeing now that I can trust their tastes, not that I ever doubted them.
Visually, it had an absolutely beautiful red-brown wrapper. Decently veiny and full of fine tooth...
This was my third bowl of it and the first one I actually loaded correctly. I also tossed the false light on it last night, then let it sit to this morning. Both were a good call as more of the casing came through and it didn't get gurgle like my other ones did. Really nice, complex Virginia...
Forgot to answer on what I thought. Posted in the Whatcha Smoking thread: https://www.cigarpass.com/community/threads/todays-smoke-2023.83088/post-1391808
Way I figure, if I enjoy the stick and it's not made with floor sweepings, who cares if it's Cuban sandwich? I'm not expecting Opus/1926/super premium quality out of something that cost me $3.
I had spread the tobacco a bit to get a better idea and shot of it, but don't think I broke it up too much doing so. Twas a bit drier and less pliable through the center, so it did break up easily as I pushed it back and forth for shots.
I rerolled it into bouchons to smoke in my pipe. Waste...
@xyz123 requested a dissection and damn it if I'm not a man of my word, if not a bit late. Seems to be a Cuban sandwich as expected for a $3 stick. Wrapper was thin yet pliable and surprisingly nice, all given. Binder was pretty beefy and well applied. About two or three pieces of full length...
It was pretty tasty. Earthy, slight peppery that came in and out, caramel, light sweet and salty thing going on, bit of twang. Didn't burn the best, but it was windy af and it's less than a month old, so can't fault it there.
