When I remove surface mold, I get a lint free cloth, mist it ever so slightly with distilled water, and wipe the affected area, turning the cloth if necessary. I have heard that using a Q tip with some white vinegar on it will kill the mold and the scent will dissapate but I have never done...
I have to say that looks like mold my friend.
Edit to add: Plume is distributed evenly, while mold tends to bunch like this pic. It does not look bad yet though. You can wipe it down and still smoke it, as long as there is no fuzz at the foot.
I have some from this era and I found the same thing....hit or miss....both with construction and flavor. When you get a good one though, it's a treat. I actually prefer mine with less age on it. To me they take on a 'tea' like flavor, it's not a bad thing, just different.

Guys, has anyone else seen email traffic about encoding ammunition? I'm not buying it....it seems a bit drummed up. I did see a bill about it but it looked dead. Any input?

Freezing will at least kill any ACTIVE eggs.
Double bag any cigars. Put that in a tupperware. 1 day in fridge. 3 days in freezer set as cold as it will go. (FYI my small outside fridge dropped to -41 deg.) 1 day in fridge again. Back into humi. Wait maybe a month or 2 before smoking...
