Wally hygros are just as inaccurate usually. I have 2 and they sit out in the garage for decoration. Just spend the 20 bucks and get a real hygro and be done with it. If you end up using heartfelt 65 beads, you may not even need a hygro if you want to save $.

Cigar packed towards the center. I think is was pressing up against the hygro. It has kind of a round dent. Again, still perfectly smokable, I wouldn't stress.

You're right.....it corrodes. Aluminum oxidizes or corrodes, it's not actually rust. Though if you've ever scratched your 'aluminum' pans, you've probably seen them rust. I am not sure all pans are 100% aluminum. Would he really want to take the chance? The black tape/bead bag suggestion...

You may want to think about changing from the aluminum pan to some sort of glass or ceramic dish. Aluminum may rust over time, lending a potential catalyst to mold. I found a nice square glass serving plate at Wally World for a few bucks for my Vinotemp.
