Oh I see what you are saying. Your right on. Devonn
Not to thread jack but I just got back from the hospital. After my last response I got severe abdominal pain and had to go to the hospital. It turned out that I have kidney stones. I am on pain medication so im a bit groggy.

Sorry...
No I think you misunderstood what I was saying. The 04 boxes should have the gold border. I was only pointing out that the older boxes have white border.
Well said Brian.
If anyone has an 03, 04 or 05 box that can describe how many finger joints there are that would be helpful. I can tell you that on boxes from 1998 thru 2002 they are as I described. Maybe there was a slight change in box configuration that has gone unnoticed till now. In the...
There is an explanation here. First when I said that there are 11 finger joints their are actualy 10 and a small partial finger that is approx 1/16 in height. So in reality there is 10 plus a partial. In the side view of the pic from the Havana Journal where the finger joints are visible the box...
The dead give away IMO over anything else is the finger joint construction. They are way too large. That is why there is only 7 of them instead of 11 like there should be.
I have seen this exact box many time before.

One other thing to consider is that if a family member did in fact pick these up in Cuba it is more than likely that they purchased these off the street which is a big no no.

Devonn I agree that just calling something fake is not good enough. That is why I listed a few hard facts to support my conclusion. I always feel bad when someone gets dupped and I never feel good about telling someone their cigars are fake. Its a real shame. Thanks for the feed back in any...
Of course you can buy an aged box but how likely do you think you could find an 04 box of Esplendidos in Cuba now? He said they were recently purchased. The box constuction is clearly fake.
Trust me on this one. There is a grocery list of things that are suspect with this box which all add up to...
First off the newer Esplendidos are in a box with rounded corners. These were just purchased so they should be in a newer box. Forget that. If you look at the finger joint in the front of the box there appears to be only 7 finger joints. There are 11 on an older style authentic box. These are...
A cigar that is often over looked and rates right up there with the best of them is the Trinidad Diplomats. These elusive cigars have feched over $16,000 for a box of 25 at Christies. That was back in 1997 and the last year they were produced. God only knows what they would sell for today at...
I bought a box of these when they first were released. The flavor was good but most were under filled and tunneled very badly. I still have 2 left.

Just an observation, The cap on the two suspect cigars is quite large( in length) and does not appear to be a tripple cap. The variance in diameter is also suspect. A 52 ring is possible but close to 54 is unlikely.
MOBIG, take a close look at the cap is it a tripple cap where three seams can...
