    Raising your own tobacco.

Dennis, I'd say you could cull your herd anytime. I use a pair of tweezers and remove all but 2 from each group. then after they get a couple inches tall I remove the other one, leaving just 1 per space. Bill, You should probably add a heat lamp or some other heat source. I don't think...

    How was YOUR weekend?

We had a standing joke when I worked at the fire house. No one bought Cherry Cordial. One of the Officers took his engine crew out of service to go get Cherry Cordial ice cream. He was fired!!!! So we all said Cherry Cordial was off limits.

    Raising your own tobacco.

Lookin' good guys! It takes between 7-21 days for the seeds to germinate, depending on variety, temp, and light. Usually it takes 6-8 weeks before they're ready to transplant. During this time keep the little plants indoors or in a greenhouse. This time frame is based on the transplanting using...

    Thanks Cozy!

I sent Craig some tobacco seeds so he could try his hand at growing his own tobacco. In return he sent me 6 nice smokes, (some of which are from a well known island). Thanks again Craig. I wish you luck Brother!!!

    Raising your own tobacco.

I'm glad you guys are excited about growing your own. If you use the 5 gallon buckets use at least 50 percent top soil or more, other wise they will fall over. These plants can reach heights of 6-7 feet.

    I'll be AWOL

I made it back safe and sound, flew home today. I had to go because my father-in-law's girlfriend totaled her 2009 Jeep Liberty. She only had the Jeep for a little over a month. They left last Tues. then on Thurs. she had her accident, she rear ended a UPS truck. Luckly no one was hurt, but that...

    Raising your own tobacco.

Chris, If you have access to a roto tiller, just work the ground until nice and loose. About 4-5 inches deep. If not you can take a shovel and turn the sod under, then using a hoe chop it up nice and loose. You can use any general purpose fertilizer that is suitable for a garden. Available at...

That would work, plus you could use it as a smoking room in the off season.

I think a dehumidifier would work pretty well, and should allow you to cure it in your basement. You could make walls or partitions out of plastic or tarps.

    Raising your own tobacco.

Chris, I believe that you could cure it in your basement as long as the humidity is not to high, and you maintain some air circulation. The size of the room would depend on how you harvested it. Are you going to prime it or cut the whole stalk. You could also cure it in your attic. If you have...
