Chris,
You can plant them as close as 24 inch rows, however that would be to close because you would not be able to get between them after they get over waist high. I'd keep them in 36 inch rows minimum. you can let the different varieties grow next to each other, but you would have to top the...
Rod, Thanks for the vote of confidence.
Bill, That corn crib will make an excellent curing barn.
Chris, I plant mine in rows 40 inches apart ( I use a tractor and cultivator to control weeds), and 24 inches between plants in the row.
I use cigar tobacco varieties. I believe that the tree tobacco is unsmokable. Not really sure about the sacred tobacco. I've raised burley (cigarette) tobacco since I was a little boy. This will be my third year to raise cigar tobacco for personal use.
Chris,
The aphids themselves don't do much damage, However there are several other leaf eaters that will eat holes in your prized crop that you worked so hard to raise. I'll have some tobacco powder later for anyone who wants some. Oh yea I almost forgot for all you bass fishermen there are...

1. Start your seeds indoors or in a green house 6-8 weeks before the last frost in your region. I use float trays, which are compartmentalized styrofoam trays that float in a bed of water. You can also use the seed starter trays...
Later this evening I'll start a new thread that covers everything about raising your own tobacco. I'll cover everything from sowing the seeds to curing your own tobacco. Later I'll go in to the fermentation process, right now I'm still trying to learn that as well. Maybe Rod could pin that...

Actually Sevin dust would be the only commercially produced pesticide that would be acceptable. It cannot be any type of systemic pesticide, these would be absorbed into the leaves. Later on I'll have some of the tobacco dust available, for anyone that needs some.
Chris,
Since you don't have frost I guess your running behind.LOL!!! Get a seed starter tray, these are available at most home and garden centers. If you get the ones with individual compartments try to put only 2-4 seeds in each compartment, this will save you some time in the future. As you...
