Hmmm...I just had one of these last night and did not find it strong at all. Good medium-bodied, choclately smoke to me. Would definitely like to get some more.
Seems we have a bit of a mystery here....maybe worth doing a large group tasting.
To me its analagous to drinking coffee. Coffee beans have this wonderful, dark bitter taste that I love. When you get a double mocha, carmel frapalatte with whipcream from starbucks you are totally masking this. You might as well make a milkshake and crush up some caffeine pills inside it...
If you are new to scotch drinking I would stay away from peaty scotches. They have a very strong mossy/oily flavor that you have to build up to.
I would recommend either Cragganmore of Glenmorangie.
The G-Men
Grew up in the northeast and was a big fan during the LT/Parcells era. I like their philosophy of emphasizing the run and defense. Big fan of Tiki Barber now.
Being in Arizona now I would like to be a fan of the Cardinals but they make it sooooo hard! They have some good talent on...
Just smoked my first one of these last night and I agree with the general consesus here. Burned perfectly. Nice creamy, smooth smoke. Good for a mellow, after-dinner cigar. But definitely not work $18-22 a stick.
As a avid listener and fan of DWSC I would like to further stress how ridculous VitaleMob's accusation is. If you listened to the show for even 5 minutes you would realize Bob and Dale have no biases towards any cigar companies. Even when they don't really like a cigar they always give it a...
I had this happen twice with CI samplers before. I knew it could possibly happen (the discliamer is clear) but I was still disappointed when some of the sticks I was really looking forward to got switched. I must say though the one's they substituted were as good or better than the one's...
Sorry for the confusion Brian...the "pressure" I was talking about is this. When I walk around my local B&M with $25 in my pocket I see 4-5 great smokes that I want to try but somewhere in my head I hear a voice saying "try the Opus...try the Opus" Its funny..its seems like its a badge...
Not sure where you think I said that premium smokes are all hype Brian???? I never said that at all. I am sure that there are many that are well worth the $.
All I am saying is that for a newbie like me they may not be worth the investment because I wouldn't be able to really appreciate them...
Thanks for all the great comments guys!
I actually allready take the band off when I smoke...it just gets in my way. I could care less what others think about me when I am smoking. Same reason I have always been a jeans and t-shirt kind of guy. If you are never in style then you never go out...
I have been an off & on cigar smoker for about 2 years now. For past 3-4 months I have been smoking regularly and have been working on starting my own collection. I have a couple desktop humidors and just bought a couple of “pucks” to help get the RH right…which is a bit of a challenge living...
