It's funny, get a hundred experienced cigar guys together and ask them what they run their storage at. You'll get answers from 58% to 75%, no kidding. Storing 65-68% has always been the target for me and my cabinet. Some sticks get the 'desk drawer' treatment or the 60% desktop if they're...
I can't break it down to the number of hours, but honestly I do know it takes surprisingly longer than you'd think. I'd try full dry boxing....for a week. Seriously. And, rather than go by the gauge, I'd see how it smoked. Take five cigars, put 'em in your desk (assuming your ambient RH is...
This should be a great addition to your cigar storage..!! FWIW, my Staebell is tall and slender, much like this one. I recommend you get at least two, preferably three hygrometers for this. This is what I did for my cabinet, putting them top mid and lower. They're inexpensive enough, and...
I've found Cigar Inspector's Flavor Wheel to be a handy tool. Sometimes, looking the wheel over while smoking, thinking about the different flavors, lets you explore and put names to the tastes you're experiencing. Main thing is to enjoy yourself and the experience..!! But, this is...
My guns get torn down and solvent cleaned once a year. They all get wiped down after the range, the AR's get a couple drops of oil before we head to the range, but that's about it. With modern ammo and decent storage, more isn't better in this case.
Mine docked Monday, got busy and didn't update the thread. Packaging is interesting, to say the least. I'll let mine 'calm down' a bit, but they'll be smoked with interest in the next few months.
The guys down under did a very scientific study with some micro biologists on plume and mold. After they analyzed submitted samples of 'plume'.....they found mold in every case. It's worth looking up and reading. I'm 95% of the way to 'there's no such thing as plume' but remain open to facts...
I'd get them out and gently wipe the wrappers with the DI / Ag solution we've been discussing. Leave them out and let them air dry for a couple days, should be OK. Mold on the foot is another thing altogether. You can try cutting 1/8" or so off the foot, see how deep it goes. Much foot...
Smart a$$ reply aside, you've got to wonder how this can be sustainable. I guess there's enough 'baller' demand that they'll sell every one they can put together. Completely takes them out of the realm where a working guy can splurge on one, once in a while.
....the good old days of Monte...
