It was another burley day with some Solani Aged Burley Flake in a vintage Dr. Grabow El Dorado bulldog. Too bad they don't make Dr. G's the way the used too. This is a great smoking pipe I picked up off ebay for $10. I also picked up a a couple of Viscounts and a Color Duke. Can't wait to...
This morning was some Carter Hall in a MM cob and this evening was PA in a well-used and butt-ugly Dr. Grabow dublin. I do love that OTC burley.
Had a good find today, stopped by a discount tobacco store hoping to find a tub of Carter Hall and was able to pick up a tub of the now discontinued Edgeworth Ready Rubbed! It was the only tub they had or I would have bought more. Can't wait to load up a cob and experience some great OTC burley...
Union Square should definitely get better with some age. I have a few tins set aside, but I don't know if they'll make it long. I've now almost finished my first tin. I foresee a few of the larger tins on the way.
Nice pipes, looks like they should be fine smokers with a little TLC. From what I can see, the bits just need some cleaning. Check with Walker Briar Works. Never had the need for restoration or repair work, but I have purchased his stem cleaning kit and a few estate pipes and have been very...
Last night was some Solani Aged Burley Flake in a Lord Jeff billiard. This morning was a bowl of Carter Hall in a Dr. Grabow Savoy in honor of Independence Day. Good old American OTC burley in a classic American pipe. Great way to start the day.
I do enjoy Westminster. It was probably my favorite Pease English until I tried Maltese Falcon. But, I've been absolutely floored by Union Square. A straight Virginia that is hands down my favorite smoke these days. I just finished a bowl in a Stanwell 191 and I am still enjoying the flavor and...
Tonight I smoked some G.L. Pease Samarra in a Peterson Irish Army billiard. This is only the second or third bowl of this from a tin I opened last year and then jarred for some aging. I still find this to be an underwhelming blend.
There isn't one dominate note, you really taste a blend of the...
That sounds like a must try. I just finished a bowl of G.L. Pease Union Square in a Stanwell 191 that was outstanding! This was the perfect pipe for this tobacco. Earlier today I smoked a half bowl of FVF in my brand new Radice Retro Poker. The pipe was an early Father's Day gift from my wife. I...
Well, I was mistaken. No VA's so far, it's been nothing but burley. Yesterday evening was two cobs full of PA while putting together a gazebo on the patio. This morning was a bowl of Barbary Coast in a Savinelli Standing pipe followed by another cob of PA. Damn, that PA is beautiful in a cob.
Riverboat Gambler is on my "must try" list as well so I'm glad to hear you enjoyed it.
Lately I've been mostly smoking VA's, Vapers and burleys, but for the past two days I jumped back into the English world with some Dunhill 965 and G.L. Pease Maltese Falcon. This morning I fired up some...
Carter Hall in a Lord Jeff billiard. Don't know who makes it, but a pretty nice pipe for the price. Made in England, nicely grained, comfortable stem, no visible fills and only a few bucks more than a Dr. Grabow. Picked it up as an estate pipe, but it has barely been smoked from what I can tell...
Just finished a bowl of G.L. Pease' Union Square in a vintage Kaywoodie Flame Grain bent billiard. It was my first bowl of the blend and the first time I've smoked the pipe. Both pipe and baccy were very impressive. While I'm not ready to say that Union Square will replace FVF as my go to...
