I'll second (or third) the Zippo. I only smoke outside or in my car and the Zippo works like a charm. I also have one of the Xikar Pipeline lighters and it works well on the patio when there is no wind, but the Zippo is tops for all around use.
Yesterday I smoked some PA in a Boswell freehand followed by some SG Navy Flake in a My Own Blend sandblasted billiard. Today was some Escudo in a Savinelli Tundra 699.
Smoked a big bowl of Dunhill EMP in a Savinelli Venezia KS Canadian with a nice deep bowl. I have a few shapes in this line and I think they are the best value Sav's out there.
After reading some reviews of these tobaccos, I can't seem to find one that stands out as a "must try" so I voted rum twist. I enjoy SG Navy Flake and Mac Baren Solent Mixture (both rum cased) so I figured I'd go with a rum laced rope. But I think whichever wins, I will definitely smoke it in a...
Samuel Gawith FVF in an ebony Peterson bent bulldog (80S I think). Yesterday was some Davidoff Flake Medallions in a Savinelli Venezia panel billiard. I just can't get enough of those VAs and Vapers.
Seems like your questions have been answered, so I won't address them again However, if you are looking for a good English blend, let me recommend G.L. Pease Maltese Falcon. I'm a big fan of Westminster as well, but Maltese Falcon gets more time in my pipes. YMMV, but it is definitely worth a...
Just an update ... I've since smoked a few more bowls of this in a few different pipes and I am really liking this stuff. It's definitely going to stay in my rotation.
This morning was some Frog Morton in a Karl Erik freehand - pretty bland, but okay for a morning smoke. This afternoon while taking a break from Daddy duty with my 4-week old, I enjoyed some SG FVF in a Savinelli Tundra panelled apple (shape 699 I believe). Paired with a cold Guinness, this...
OK, I finally got around to cracking open my tin of Davidoff Flake Medallions, in between taking care of my 3 week old baby girl and my 2 year old Rottie who is recovering from surgery on his ACL, my smoking time has been severly compromised. But, this evening I decided to take my other dog on a...
I chose "And So To Bed" - I've always wanted to give it a shot based on the name. I still need to get around to opening my tin of the Davidoff Flake Medallions from the last TOM. Perhaps this weekend I will be able to fire up the Davidoff.
Last night was a bulk blend called Navajo that I picked up from the B&M down the street from my office. I think it is really Lane RP-6. Not bad when smoked in a Savinelli Standing rhodesian with balsa filter in place. This afternoon was some Maltese Falcon in a Savinelli Collection pipe - hit...
Just smoked some Boswell Northwoods in a Boswell rusticated billiard. This is probably the third bowl in this pipe and it's really starting to smoke very nicely. I've got another Boswell coming next week with a sample of Dan's Blend. Can't wait.
I just enjoyed a 4noggins blend myself. Bald-headed Teacher in a Karl Erik sandblasted billiard. I hadn't smoked any of it in a while and I forgot how much I liked it. Good stuff!
Hmm, no real wrong purchases, but I did smoke my second bowl of SG Navy Flake and I still haven't figured out if I like it or not. I think it was packed way too wet, so this time I around a let a flake sit out for about 15 minutes before smoking it. Better, but next time I will dry it for at...
