these are '00 and i completely agree with emodx...at 4 years they are just coming into there own...the last 3 inches started to show some young cigar lip sting.another 3 or 4 years should see these blossom into a...

this is the article that got me thinking about aging cigars(5 years ago) .
http://www.cigarnexus.com/counsel/aging/index.html
some things in this article i now disagree with(10+ years being bland for eg.)but it got me thinking about aging cigars...the rest is a slippery slope.

have had a few especiales#1's...these were from one box only, with about 3 years.they are mild to medium...but they are a long smoke and the strength builds.a hint of habanos spice and what i would call grassy or herbal .i thought these were a good smoke.

i will not debate the "politics" of the situation.
my "eyewitness" observations of the situation(and i dont just sit in my resort in cuba or guatemala)is that cuba is better off than say haiti or honduras etc.and i still say cuba is just fine without mcdonalds starbucks etc...
great book...lots of pics(all the right size).
i disagree with a lot of his tasting notes but agree whole heartedly with his aging recommendations(the older the better, basically).
one cigar i did buy because of this book...erdm tainos...did not have any churchills and dont have much experience...
currently puffing through a box of non plus from nov'00...they are a great smoke...one of those odd cigars were age increases the strength and flavour.

when cigar nexus first described the new seals...john chunko described the fluorescing(under a black light)water mark...so they came out at the same time.

strongest cigars i have ever had(still have a cabinet stashed away somewhere)
ryj tres petite coronas...verging on deathly strong and i like high octane smokes.
had to rethink the strength of my bolivar pc's and downgrade em to 4 1/2 out of 5.

yup
caveat:this is not a political statement(just honest eyewitness observations) and i sure dont want to stir anything up.
from the travel i have done(south of the usa)imo cuba is better off than honduras or guatemala or el salvador etc.
by better off i mean less obvious poverty... more...

have had only one of these...but it was a first class smoke.pretty much as you described it(right down to the burn)...very tasty.
