While I haven't smoked a Work of Art, I have yet to smoke the Hemingway that I didn't like. Same goes for the DC and SG lines. I've smoked a few from the regular AF line and didn't think they were anything special.
I take it off after I've smoked about half the cigar. I figure by then, the heat has loosened it up somewhat. If I try to take it off pre-light, I'm afraid of tearing the wrapper.
