I bought a generator a few years back because we had lost power for nearly a week. Had to drive a couple hours away to pick it up (all the generators in my area were sold out immediately). It's the best investment I've ever made - because now that I own one, we no longer have power outages...
I had to seek this one out! It's a song sparrow and now I see where it got its name. I heard a very cool singing bird nearby and had to hunt around to grab a photo. And here he/she is!
Some of my more recent finds in my area...
Purple Martins (Male and Female)
Kingbird
Red-Belly Woodpecker
Gray Catbird
Tree Swallow
Great Blue Heron
European Goldfinch
Yeah - the damn House Sparrows around us keep the Eastern Bluebirds and Indigo Buntings well away from our feeders... 😡😡
With that structure you have there they are sitting in, those would be some way cool photos with a good lens and camera sensor!
Picked up another bottle of EH Taylor, a bottle of Eagle Rare and a "Jewel Barrel Select" smaller bottle of Eagle Rare (a special "Jewel Single Barrel Select"). Seems that there are regular BT shipments coming to our local grocery store now! Glad I can finally avoid the gray market with some...
Look like this guy? This is a Northern Flicker - a type of woodpecker. When they fly that have a very distinct yellow color (used to be called Yellow Shafted Flicker).
Took a walk in a local forest preserve and saw all sorts of birds. It was a busy day. The mist interesting was the Eastern Kingbird (the second photo). Never seen one of those before.
It’s been showing up in significant quantities around our stores as well. I was also able to pick up a couple of bottles of Eagle Rare and a bottle of EH Taylor at retail - stuff I’ve never seen except in the gray market.
I was out in the backyard playing with the settings on my Nikon camera when this little guy showed up in my view. Caught me completely by surprise. Sorry the pictures are not better - I need to work on a few things to get it completely locked in...
I've hung my hummingbird feeders again this year. Have not seen any as of yet, but they did not arrive at my feeders last year until later in the season.
