My oldest son was a USMC small arms armorer for a decade, so between his and my experiences, we've got opinions if nothing else...!!...:D

My guns get torn down and solvent cleaned once a year. They all get wiped down after the range, the AR's get a couple drops of oil before we head to the range, but that's about it. With modern ammo and decent storage, more isn't better in this case.

Mine docked Monday, got busy and didn't update the thread. Packaging is interesting, to say the least. I'll let mine 'calm down' a bit, but they'll be smoked with interest in the next few months.

The guys down under did a very scientific study with some micro biologists on plume and mold. After they analyzed submitted samples of 'plume'.....they found mold in every case. It's worth looking up and reading. I'm 95% of the way to 'there's no such thing as plume' but remain open to facts...

I'd get them out and gently wipe the wrappers with the DI / Ag solution we've been discussing. Leave them out and let them air dry for a couple days, should be OK. Mold on the foot is another thing altogether. You can try cutting 1/8" or so off the foot, see how deep it goes. Much foot...

I'd go a bit more aggressive on the humidifier than mild soap. I'd rinse the tank out, and wipe everything down with IPA (isopropyl alcohol), including the fans. Try to get all the nooks and crannies, use Q-Tips to get the corners. No question the wick(s) have to go, replace appropriately...

We ended up with a little dusting of snow yesterday, maybe 2-3" or so. Temps warmed up, almost gone today. Been darn cold, up in the 40's now. I'm down with Pooh's comment...... :cool:
