A humidor 27+ years in service

LOL! That's what prompted this post. I was cleaning out my cigar/pipe hutch and found it. Brought back some great memories. I wish I had the receipt or packing slip for my Aristocrat. I have the documentation but I was trying to figure out when I got it and how much I paid for it.

A humidor 27+ years in service

In December 1996 I won $300 in a football pool and used the nearly all the winnings for a Diamond Crown Jamestown by Reed & Barton. It was the first humidor I owned that wasn’t a mason jar. Back then our rent was $700 a month, so $275 a MINT for us. To use the money for a humidor made me realize...

Latest Pipe Purchases - Pipes, Tobacco and Accessories 2023

A fellow club member was selling pipes to benefit his wife’s friend who recently lost her husband. She wanted her husband’s pipes to go to people who would appreciate them. A couple of miscommunications and lost emails, and I ended up with SEVEN of the pipes. No real big names but all in...

    Xikar Lighter Fail

Hopefully not 4-6 weeks for you. I returned a lighter in December and got a brand new one (same model) in less than a week. If that lighter is as old as you say, it was made before QI bought Xikar. My guess is they send you a new lighter.

    Ashtrays - Whatcha got ?

This one serves double duty. Found it at an antique shop for $18. Sanded, refinished and added a new knocker.

    Rum!?!

I always like to keep one bottle of good rum in the liquor closet at all times so I can switch up the Bourbon and Scotch rotation. Diplomatico Reserva Exclusiva is a favorite as is Dos Maderas 5+5. I recently bought a bottle of Zaya Alta Fuerza (up to) 16 y-o, which is extremely boozy at 115...

    High End, Retail, or Conversion?

This is a very cool project. Please keep us updated as you go. I’m a big fan of the Humi-Care. I bought one back in December for my Aristocrat Mini. I pulled out the green floral foam (which got moldy after a few months) and put in Prestige Import 70% Crystal Gel Beads from Amazon. I refill it...

    Today's Smoke 2024

I greatly appreciate you sharing this @cohibasurfer. My Mom's name was Julia but everyone called her Jay, so she was a Blue Jay gal obviously! I would tease her that the Blue Jay's call was the same as her nagging! 🤣 I lost my Mom in February and yesterday was the first May 2 since my Dad...

    Today's Smoke 2024

Reflecting on the 17th anniversary of my Dad’s passing tonight with a Camacho Factory Unleashed and some Asleep at the Wheel (one of his favorites) on the juke. I’m pretty sure he’s around because the bird sightings have been crazy! A Cardinal pair, a Downey Woodpecker pair, a Red Winged...

New Italian Pipe - Sisimbro Vesuvio

I visited the Sisimbro shop in Naples, Italy a few years back on a family trip. It’s a LCDH affiliate and I picked up a handful of Cuban cigars and a nice Montecristo branded leather case. I wasn’t a pipe smoker at the time, but I’ve been following the shop on social media since, glazing over...

    U-C-O-N-N, UCONN! UCONN! UCONN!

Thanks! Edey still got 37, but that was the poison UConn chose. They held the rest of the team to 23 points and only one three pointer. Curious how he (and UConn's Clingan) will do in the NBA as it really isn't a big man's game anymore.

    U-C-O-N-N, UCONN! UCONN! UCONN!

Largest point differential in NCAA tournament history. Twelve straight tournament wins by 13 or more points. Incredible. I stormed the court at MSG in 1988 thinking the NIT Championship would be the pinnacle of UConn hoops. Man was I wrong. I am going to dig something special out of the...
