My son is 9 and doesn't actually like meat that much, but he can go through multiple pounds of apples or cucumbers lickety split so I guess I can see it.

Holy shit, maybe the place nearest me does much bigger slices than others, but I can't imagine eating 20, much less 42! I think I ate maybe five or six slices. That, or I'm misremembering how they sliced it and it was actually more.
