Is there a V-Cutter you prefer to Xikar?

Not nearly as much as a punch.

    Cigar Deals

The Fabrica5 guys are at it again: ....with an 'interesting' twist: ....so, only the first three bundles, per order, count for the 30% off. Huh, wonder what made them make that change..... They seem to do this every 90 days or so, but it's still a good deal.

Is there a V-Cutter you prefer to Xikar?

Here are the tools that live in my little cigar tool box; no big surprises here. The OG Xikar and Palio cutters were gifted to me decades ago by a long time CP member, no longer with us. Makes them touchingly special to me, think about him every time I use them. All cut like razors, never an...

    Today's Smoke 2026

Busted a saved bundle of these today. Man..is this the best cigar of all time..?? Maybe. Spicy, but not too spicy. Strong, but not overly strong. Construction is flawless. Complex flavors that wax and wane through the smoke. Delicious. Been saving this bundle for a while, and it seems I'm being...

Why does a tight draw make a cigar strong?

A guess: A tight draw = less air moving through the stick. Higher concentration of smoke, means a stronger draw. Tars also could tend to build up due to the increased concentration of tobacco smoke. The 'choke point' of the tight cigar gives tars a good place to build up. ...hey, it sure...

Is there a V-Cutter you prefer to Xikar?

Second try after alcohol; cut of a La Paulina bundle smoke went much better, but not great. OK, it's cheap but cuts like it. I've had super cheap single blade throw aways that were tolerable when nothing else was available. My $00.02 here....hard pass. One man's opinion.....

Is there a V-Cutter you prefer to Xikar?

....well, first cut didn't go well, at all. Basically mashed the end off a Tatuaje. Ugh. I'm going to alcohol wipe it and try again with a different stick, but wow it sure didn't do a good job. YMMV, etc..... Xikar and the Colibri cut like razors.....this one, not so much.

Is there a V-Cutter you prefer to Xikar?

....well, based on recommendations, of course I went looking on Amazon. $13.99..?? OK, what the heck, send it: Got here yesterday. First impression is it's a very nice cutter..!! Very heavy, smooth, feels decently well made. However, if you look at the blade geometry sitting next to my...

    World champion cornhole

....whew..!! I was afraid this thread might need to be tagged 'NSFW'.... 🤣 OK, kidding and nonsense aside, that does look like you guys had a great time. One time I got to play Croquet with a ranked player, at his home on his (no shit) laser leveled Croquet field. He made shots you wouldn't...

Is there a V-Cutter you prefer to Xikar?

OMG brother, your cutter is likely fine...!! Hit Walgreens or the local pharmacy, get some alcohol wipes, and scrub that sucker good. You'll be amazed. The great quality blades in your Xikar are way, way harder than the tobacco you're cutting....should honestly last a lifetime.

Is there a V-Cutter you prefer to Xikar?

....hear, hear. Funny thing, I had the Xikar and hadn't been using it much. Craig's posts got me to reconsider, so I gave the blades a good alcohol wipe and started using it more. Son of a gun, I really like it. My cutter selection is old school Xikar, old school Palio, Colibri V-cutter, Xikar...

How do you keep track of cigars?

I've tried notepads, notebooks, spreadsheets....and finally gave up. Like MaytagMan, I've got lots coming and going. Also, now that I'm retired I usually smoke 3 a day, so I'd be doing more data entry than smoking. I do write the 'humi date' (the date they went in my cabinet) and the source on...
