I have a nubi question on the reviews,does the mild medium and full refer to flavor or strength and can you have one without the other?

Since I am a new guy i wont try to describe the flavors , I did not see a review of this one, It started out slightly sweet and mild and kind of grew into a medium smoke it was good and I would and did go back for more at $3.99.
