I have always enjoyed dabbling in woodworking, and various other hobbies in that vein. I have also always been very proud of my Scottish heritage. I can still recall my Grandmother taking me as a young man to see Pipe bands as they came through town- The Black Watch and Royal Highlanders to name...
Was reading through the Rye threads and remembered- Got a bottle of Johnnie Walker Rye Cask last year. I'm not usually a blended scotch guy, but that was damn fine.
The Glen 10 is about $40 here. Can't go wrong with it for the price. I do like the Balvenie double wood too. I recently tried their 14 yr Rum cask version. Hard to believe how peaty and smokey it was at first taste. I really was expecting a much more pronounced rum finish. I did find that coming...
I'd need a little more planning time to even contemplate it, or get a road trip together. Sorry mang. Perhaps we shall have to attempt to resurect the PacNW herf earlier in the year rather than Oct as in previous years.
