    Camacho Havana Corona

I actually like the camacho havana line. Got a box of churchills in my cooler right now. I find many criollo wrapped cigars to have a funky metallic taste -- like the torano silvers....but these do not have that. Imho they have an earthy, unique flavor, and me likey.

    Man O' War Robusto Review

When I first got mine I thought they were a bit harsh and mostly boring......I let em rest for a few months, and they are much better. I find them rich and earthy.....maybe some leather notes....I just love them. Imho, if you are looking for lots of spice, these will not be for you. But if you...

What is your Holy Grail Smoke?

Imho there are plenty of great smokes to be had, even at affordable prices. I love nicaraguan puros....there is a nic profile that I really dig. But if I had to pick a holy grail smoke, it would be one that is long gone -- the original cao anni's made by Douglas (mid to late 90's). His costa...

    New Perdomo Grand Cru

I missed that when I read through the posts.....LOL.....that quote made my day.

    New Perdomo Grand Cru

Jeff, the original pre-embargo gcc's came out circa 2001. I was fortunate to score a box of belis and they were outstanding. The second box I bought was ~ 2003. Not nearly as good, imho. That is the last I tried them. Perdomo has greatly increased their quality control, so it may be that by 2006...

    New Perdomo Grand Cru

Haven't tried em in several years. They used to have construction issues, but being that Perdomo has fixed those issues with other lines, I have no doubt they smoke fine now. Might have to give them another try. Following the GCC's (which were a brainchild of Lew Rothman of JR Cigars), Perdomo...

    A. Fernandez Signature Series

Nice review......I like a lot of AJ's stuff......he's one of the hottest blenders around right now, imho. I like the padilla habano and the Man O War.....the MOW's are a fuller smoke, so I wouldn't recommend them to a newbie. As for the burn issues, the signature series has fragile wrappers...

What was your worse cigar ever?

I've had waaaay too many bad cigars.....but like a fool I usually smoke em anyway......amongst the worst were villar y villar (same factory as la finca, but even worse!), riata (burnt, soiled hay and tar), and flor de farach - which I smoked right before I got food poisoning, so it may have been...

    What's Your Latest Purchase

LOL.....hey Aaron, that was from me! I am Low Budget Smoker over at CW......I actually tried to post the lot here but got pinata-shamed for posting a sale, as I am not very active here. Glad you enjoy the smokes - and congrats again on your recent graduation! Never tried the beast.....but...

    POS released to home custody

I don't think it is a given that a team will give him a chance.....there will be A LOT of backlash from animal rights activist groups calling for boycotts and the like. Many owners also own other businesses (i.e., his own Falcons owner owns Home Depot, iirc). Most owners will not risk it.

    Will they dry up?

Glad they are ok......good smokes! You must have a lot going on right now to forget about a box of cigars like that!

    Any recommendations for a newbie?

I wouldn't suggest stocking up on any one or two cigars you find to your liking......as a newbie your tastes will likely change often. I agree the newbie sampler trade is the way to go. I've been smoking nearly 20 years and I still find myself aternating from wanting spice bombs, to reaching for...

    New Perdomo Grand Cru

A few years ago I stayed far away from all Perdomo lines because I found major construction issues......but the past year the construction has been fine. I LOVE the esv lines - both nat and maduro are top shelf for me. And an underdog for me is the Perdomo house brand for Famous -- the 70th...

    General torch lighter question

Got a $2.50 Ronson several years ago and it still works great. Use the Ronson butane too. I've had a lot of folks laugh at me and ask why I use it. If you want style, this ain't it. If you want a dependable torch lighter, these work great, imho.

    Mold?

Dude - that pic is gonna give me nightmares.....attack of the giant finger!!! Like others said, looks more like a water or sun spot. Sometimes cigars have slight discolorations.....no biggie.....when you have one with mold you will know it. It looks like, uh, mold. You can usually smear it off...

    Cigarbid

If I go a month without placing any bids I get a call from cbid asking if I am ok. On a positive note, I do have quite a collection of empty brown cardboard shipping boxes.

    First box purchase(s)

"Good" on cigars only lasts so long as you keep some control.......eh......even then you are screwed. "Good" for me lasted until I had about 1500 cigars......that's when I realized one can never be "good" on cigars. I know one guy who, at one point, had 20K cigars (he does smoke 8-10 a day). He...

    Online Purchases

Imho you can get the best deals at cbid -- if you are patient and use some self control.....CI is good too, especially with their daily and weekly specials....there are certain cigars that I get from Famous.....their auction often has some very good deals too. Also use (only when a good deal...

    What's Your Latest Purchase

Sure looks like I am on the low-budget end of this BB. Lots of top shelf purchases going on, imho. I smoke mostly $2-3 smokes, but with child support I really don't have a choice.......such is life.
