Dude, can't wait to try them!!! That would look great sitting in the middle of the table in our conference room.
By the way...a fresh battery of SAM's installed in my cube tomorrow will take care of any rogue crop dusters!
Here's everyone, from left to right...
Jeremy (new daddy), Joel (cigar noob), Gary (the bossman), Billy, Dave (cigar noob), me (sitting at the table in the green shirt), Doug, and Hillbilly (Erick).
We were at the Fox and the Hound in Winston-Salem. Lots of fun!!!
I'm in! I can bring some of my sauce if you want.
We could do a travelling BBQ herf, just driving from one side of the country to the other, throwing BBQ out of the back of your truck!
The labels were all wrong (compared them to the Opus/Anejo thread), and they were rolled pretty poorly. The outsides were bumpy and not smooth at all.
This bites because I was looking forward to a really nice first trade!
It seems that my other Opus was fake too, but I'm not 100% sure. I have some other older cigars that I know are real, and the oils in the wrappers have soaked into the labels, changing their appearance significantly. It's possible this could have happened to the Opus too.
Now I'm concerned...
Just found out today that the Opus I listed for trade were fakes (my sincerest apologies to the member on the other end of that trade)!!! I had no idea, and never really thought to check, but you can be sure I will check from now on! I got them from one of those "discount cigarette" stores...
Here are some I'd like to try:
- Opus Perfexcion #2, Super Beli, XXX, Perfexcion X
- Anejo any size, especially the Shark
- Foridden X any size
- Hemingway maduro
- Don Carlos Beli
- Casa Fuente any size
- Ashton VSG Torpedo, Enchantment
- Ashton ESG and Puro Sol any size
- Gurkha Centurion...
They are much better after you age them a while. Still quite potent, but they develop some character as well...maybe they just steal a little from the other sticks in the humi!
In my experience, the CAO maduros are much better out of the box, and better still after proper aging.
I've got some of these in my humi that I've had for years, and they are great if properly aged, but I don't prefer them when they're new. The ones I have are covered in bloom because they have very oily wrappers.
Big fan of the sungrowns here! I've got two in my tupperdor that I've been aging for about 2-3 years. I'll bet they're most excellent by now! Never seen the mold under the cedar.
