    Cigar Experiment....

Sorry it didn't work out for you, MAS_Puros. I tried this last spring with a variety of cigars and George Dickel Tennessee Whiskey. I noticed that the results varied from cigar to cigar, but I wasn't able to identify a pattern. Wrapper type, size, strength, etc. didn't seem to be crucial...

    Whats Your Latest Puchase

Just bought a few Punch Gran Puros. I'm really starting to dig Punch.

Horrible Experience with Opus X ?!?!

Smoked my second Opus X last weekend. My brother bought it from a tobacconist in Savannah and brought it up in a humi-pouch. She assured him that it was aged appropriately for an immediate smoke, and she was not lying. That was a beautiful cigar. Just remarkable. Thanks for all your help with...

    1875? What About 1875?

Okay, that makes sense. I'm looking at open boxes in the humidor case, so I don't see the tops of the boxes. Thanks for the background on Romeo y Julieta, but is that what a year usually means in a cigar name? Thanks for the big list of cigar sizes, too. To be honest, I'm not very good spatially...

    1875? What About 1875?

I'm still pretty new to cigars--the good ones, anyway--and I have a few questions I'm hoping you guys can help me out with. 1. At some point this weekend I'm lighting up a Romeo y Julieta 1875 Cedros #1. What is this 1875 all about? I see these years on cigars all the time, but I have no idea...

    A couple of Newbee questions?

If you think you might be cutting off too much, here's a trick I learned that usually gets the job done. Open your cutter and place it flat on a table. Put your cigar (cap side down) into the cutter's opening so that the bottom is touching the table-top. Then just snap it shut. For most cigars...

    Favorite Cigar Mag?

CA is just terrible. I understand it's a "lifestyle" magazine, but there's no excuse at all for a rag with "Cigar" in its title to dedicate less than 30% of its contents to cigars. Also, has anyone else noticed their pro-Cuban bias? I sometimes get the impression that Castro could take a dump...

    Lips, Teeth or Both?

For me, smoking is a rare treat rather than an everyday occurence. So when I'm smoking, it's usually all I'm doing. I'm never holding it in my mouth, in other words. If I'm not enjoying it, I set it down. I find that if I leave it in my mouth I tend to draw too often...makes it burn hot and nasty.

    How do you cut it?

Yeah, but was he talking about cigars or the fingers of political opponents?

    A bad taste...

Red wine. The darker the better. Gargle with it, swish it around, then spit it out. It doesn't give you clean breath, it gives you wine breath. (Most chicks prefer the taste of wine to the taste of cigars, so it's just as good. Also, as long as you have the bottle out, get a few glasses in...

    How do you cut it?

I use a single-blade guillitine. I'm thinking about upgrading to a two-blade, though. Cutting certain cigars with the cheapie single-blade is like hacking through the jungle with a butter knife. Related story: I was real young when I smoked my first, and I was as clueless about the cutter as I...

    Cubans Cigars Legal in Nebraska?

We trade with China and give them very favorable terms. In fact, we can't send our money over there fast enough. But what terrible things has Cuba done that China hasn't? Plenty of human rights violations and political oppression in both places...in terms of sheer numbers of political...

    Graduation

Sounds like you're well-equipped, Nathan. Having the party the night before the ceremony is brutal, though. Those things are hard enough to take without a hangover. Sneak in a flask and play the Graduation Drinking Game. Take a sip every time someone says..."As I look out on these young...

    Cubans Cigars Legal in Nebraska?

This is a pretty clever move, actually. This guy proposes this law knowing full well that it won't pass. He gains support from cigar smokers, and loses absolutely nothing in the process. (The same thing is happening at a national level right now in other areas of policy...folks are proposing...

Horrible Experience with Opus X ?!?!

Most informative. Thanks so much for the responses everyone. Seems like a great site. And Ginseng, I honestly wish I had the kind of scratch that would result in "remaining specimens".

Horrible Experience with Opus X ?!?!

I only had it in the bag for four days. I'll think about laying the next one up for a longer period of time. It's kind of weird to think that the store just can't sell them at the proper level for immediate enjoyment. Thanks for the link. The other thread was most enlightening.

Horrible Experience with Opus X ?!?!

New member here, and I just had an awful experience with my first Opus X. I know it's a high-quality cigar, so I'm scratching my head. I had problems with the light from the get-go and they persisted throughout the smoke. It burned unevenly throughout as well. I could tell it was a fine-tasting...
