    601 Box Pressed Maduro Robusto

I really like these, but they're a bit pricey at my B&M (about 8$). I got a 5 pack for $20, so there are deals out there. Never had a problem with one of these. Perfect draw, nice taste. Burn sometimes is off a little--not by much.

    Padron Cigars

    Padron? My favs--especially the Maddies.

This years Oliva Serie V Maduro release and more...

I like the Oliva V Maddies, but I've had bad luck with them--some I've had have been almost unsmokeable due to the tight draw--out of character for an Oliva. Even after aging them for months about 1/2 of the ones I've bought had that problem. Odd as I keep them at 66-65% RH. When I get one...

    The Hidden Dangers of Cigars

The minute you see "second hand smoke" accepted as a proven fact you should instantly become pretty wary of the "study". The "study" is also blatantly one-sided which doesn't help it appear to be accurate.

    Is it just me?

If they are always bitter at the end you could be smoking them a bit too fast. I often smoke to the nub unless they are bitter. I've noticed that when I smoke them too fast they get bitter at the end. Just a thought.

    Contemplating first box purchase

I'd go with the Padron 2000 maddies. My first box was a box of the Padron 3000 maddies so I'm a bit biased.

    Where does your Humidor reside

In my basement office. The temp/RH is more stable than upstairs (I live in Chicago--not and humid in the summer, cold and dry in the winter).

    Rocky Patel - Vinatage 1990

For the money, I think the Padron's are much better. Don't get me wrong, I like the RP 1990 and 1992's but I won't pay $8 for one. You can get them for $3-4 if you look around and wait for a deal. For that, they're a great smoke. I just got a 5-pack of 1990 Churchill's for $19.

    Just bought my first humidor

That's a good selection of sticks, enjoy.

    Just received my first humidor!

FWIW. I have the Heartfelt beads. They're fantastic. Much, much easier than the typical foam in a new Humidor. I read somewhere that the gels tend to work better in the winter (when it's dry) while the beads tend to work better in the summer (when it's humid). I'm not sure how true it is...

I never have enough time to fully enjoy my cigars

Like another poster mentioned, the Padron's are inexpensive enough where it won't break the bank if that happens. I don't think I've had a better cigar for the money, and I had many that cost more that weren't nearly as good.

    Padron 2000

Thanks. I was hoping you were going to say 65%. I have 25 3000 Maddies and based on what you wrote, I'd like to try to age a bunch of them for a few years. I was going to smoke them next summer (after about 1 year), but I may set 15 or so aside and wait a couple more years. Mine are kept at...

    Padron 2000

I love Padrons. Do you store/age them at 70% or 65%? Thanks.

    SCHIP Update

The problem with compromising one something like this is that we lose something. I suppose it's better than paying unreasonable taxes but it is frustrating....

Vistited my local B&M for the first time today (Birmingham, AL)

Sounds like a nice surprise. Bad etiquette however--lighting a cigar for someone else.

    Padron Cigars - amazing smokes

I smoked just about each of the x000 series since I started smoking on a weekly basis a couple of months ago. I used to smoke a couple cigars a summer but that was it. Those crazy Padrons is what did it. First it was a 2000 maduro, then a 3000 natural, than a 5000 maduro and a 4000 maduro...

What is this world coming to...

Sorry to hear your story. Hopefully things will work out. This just isn't the country it used to be. The Founders must be rolling in their graves. Sad, very sad.

Smoke Lies and the Nanny state

Thanks for the link. That was a good read. Up until a year or so ago I was a VERY casual cigar smoker for the past 25 years or so. Normally only smoking a handful a year. Cigar smoke doesn't bother me much. Frankly, cigarette smoke bothers me quite a bit--especially in restaurants. I'm an...

    Maduro?

As mentioned previously, the Padron 2000 Maduro is very nice. A good smoke and very inexpensive for the quality that it delivers.
