Interesting shrinkage. Coffee used to be in pound bags, then dropped to 12oz for a few years, now 250g (just under 9oz) is becoming common. First time I've seen 11oz (312g) though.
I do track wholesale prices for green (unroasted) coffee, so it isn't like there is price gouging going on by...
Here's one for people who want coffee that doesn't taste like "real coffee." (This is not a judgement, just that if, say, Peet's Major Dickason's Blend is deli-sliced roast beef, then this is steak tartare with raw egg yolk on top.)
Wilton Benitez has become quite a coffee celebrity in the past...
It depends ... mostly on what you like, and how much you want to spend - just like cigars :-) - although unlike cigars, it also depends to a lessor extent on what equipment/experience that you have. There is such a broad variety of equipment on the market these days that pretty much any coffee...
Fortunately, Havana Club hasn't raised their prices to such levels, and Havana Club Smoky (Havana Club 5, 7, and 12 year old rum aged in malt whisky barrels from Islay) is currently readily available in Canada. Just about to go pick up a couple bottles :-).
I started smoking cigars again recently after stopping ten years ago. Of the non-Cubans, the remaining Padrons were still impressive; none of the other non-Cubans were. The Padron 80th's were spectacular, and much better than my memory and notes from years ago would indicate.
I'm in shock over...
Rocky grinders are built like tanks and never die - they just need new burrs and a fresh wrap of Teflon tape every few years :).
James Hoffmann I've followed for years, since he was on Vimeo.
I do follow a lot of coffee YouTubers - for pourover and other non-espresso methods I think Asser is...
FWIW, Mark Prince at coffeegeek just released a long review of the Baratza Encore ESP. https://www.coffeegeek.com/reviews/baratza-encore-esp-grinder/ Mark's reviews are generally positive; one has to "read between the lines" for the negatives, but everything is there if you read critically. The...
I'd say that a grinder makes a huge amount of difference; in third place after the coffee/roast itself, and then the water used for brewing. However, there are levels to this, just like cigars. There's not much use having a $3600 Kafatek grinder unless one is drinking aged Cohiba Behike-level...
+1 :whistling:
Seemed like there were a lot of folks from CigarPass at QSH, so I thought I'd drop in to thank everyone for the rousing rendition of "Oh Canada" (Y'all must watch the odd hockey game ... ). Also, no issues at the border - I was through in under a minute. I told the...
To add, torch lighters can't be checked or carried on, in an approved case or not.

As an aside, fueled lighters (of any kind) have not been allowed in checked luggage forever. The allowance for (non-torch) fueled...
It looks like that info will be internal. There's some reassurance benefit to the final consumer; but only in the sense of knowing that a code is good.
It is a moot point - a grey market importer/exporter is going to remove the barcode if they want to stay in business.
Thanks! Looks like...
FYI, online verification of the new barcode is available at http://www.habanos.com/sellos?lang=en
(Cuban site, but it is located in Toronto, Canada, so hopefully Americans should be able to see the website.)
Has anyone tried this? If so, what does it say, please?
Instead of using compressed air, try - carefully - using the fuel. Just a quick pssst. The butane seems to help clean the nozzle.
Worked for me, anyhow. YMMV.
Yup, genuine Cuban cigars are everywhere here  .
Unfortunately, so are fake Cohiba's, fake Monte #2's, fake Party SD #4's, fake EL's (and some fake Opus X).
Locally, I haven't seen any other cigars faked - yet.
