Well, I just noticed that I did my 1000 post in the Halo thread! And I just happened to get 3 boxes of Pepin goodies in today!! :D

So I guess it's time for a little contest... except that I happen to have a headache and I stink at making up contests. :laugh:

Here are 2 easy questions:


#1. Why is the sky blue?


#2. What are the 3 different Pepins that I got in today?


I am looking for a specific answer to the first question. My father used to give me this particular answer every time.


Rules:

This contest is for people residing in the US and Canada only (those in the military can play of course!).

You must have been a member since Aug. 31st this year and have at least 10 posts.

3 guesses total per person, NO EDITS!

Contest will run from now til 9:30 pm EST on Sept. 25th. If no one has it exactly, it will go to the one with the most correct answers.

My guess on what your father told you as a child is - "Because if it was green then the sky and the ground would mix together."

The real answer - The sun's lightrays are scattered as they travel through the atmosphere and the blue frequencies are scattered more than any other, hence we see blue. It is called the Reyleigh Scattering.

Because everyone is going to give the same answer(I assume) to the first question, I'll be flip but correct in saying because we perceive that frequency of light as the color blue. ;)
