My wife and I like to do Finger Lakes wine tours at least 5 or 6 times a year or so, and we will usually stop at one of the breweries when we have a chance also.

Last week we went to Seneca Lake, and we stopped at fairly new place - Finger Lakes Distilling, which is kind of unique for the area. If you're ever in the Finger Lakes, I'd recommend stopping by. They're a small-batch distillery of vodka, gin, whiskey and grappa, plus a few others. They even do a corn whiskey named "Glen Thunder" after the nearby Watkins Glen racetrack. They're really nice folks, and actually fairly generous with their tastings.

I'm not a big fan of whiskey, so I bypassed that to start with the vodka which was very smooth! I also had their gin (my drink of choice when I don't grab a beer) and it was wonderful, very unique - so I picked up a bottle. For the season they were also sampling several berry liquers and a Maplejack (which I believe is applejack made with maple syrup) very very tasty, straight or mixed with hot apple cider, as they offered it both ways.

Here's a short review I found online http://www.spiritsreview.com/reviews-liqueur-fld-maplejack.html

And here's their website - http://fingerlakesdistilling.com/ or http://www.fingerlakesdistilling.blogspot.com/

I've been trying to get a bottle of their McKenzie Rye Whiskey so if you run across one snag one for me. I'm good for it.

I should be able to stop there and snag you a bottle this weekend, if so I'll shoot you a PM - probably on Sunday.

Found out a local liquor store carries FLD products, so we stopped by while shopping today... turns out they don't have the bourbon in stock.. bah. No problem says I, we'll just take a drive down to the place and buy it from the source. Hop on the NYS Thruway and then quickly realize it's Thanksgiving weekend traffic time. oops - forgot. No problem says I, we don't have anywhere to be today (wife wanted to clean the house and put up Christmas decorations). Actually averaged UNDER 20 mph for a stretch of thruway - normally cruise over 70.

Oh well, long story short: I got you your bottle of McKenzie Rye Whiskey, and since we made the trip I figured I might as well grab myself a bottle of the Maplejack.

Sorry to make you wait so hard :p

Your bottle is packaged up and will be flying tomorrow (well technically today now I guess) via UPS. I generally don't trust USPS with glass things.

I'll be looking for it!

You can PM me the damage too please.
