A Sad Day in the World of Wine

Robert Mondavi died this morning at the age of 94. He was the jewel of the California wine industry and respected around the world. He will no doubt go down in the history books as a pioneer that pushed California to new heights. He will be remembered for his passion, drive, and generosity. The Mondavi family has been a great asset to the development and prosperity of the California wine industry especially here in the Napa Valley area. He will be missed and leaves behind a great legacy. He was never looked down upon the locals and quite often you could see him dining in some of the local establishments at the table next to you, or driving one of his classic cars down highway 29 or he Silverado trail.

The American wine industry lost a great man today, a legend and an inspiration to many.

I raised a glass of 1995 Ridge Montabello to him today ....... okay, not a Napa wine but it's what I had in my glass today.
