An Evening in “The Speyside”.
Cigar: Bolivar Coronas Extra ‘01
Wrapper: Cuba
Binder: Cuba
Filler: Cuba
Drink: Oban 14y
Prelight: This cigar came to me from a fellow local BOTL at a great cigar lounge, Smokey Joe’s. The wrapper smelled greatly of cedar, and the foot, the same. The cold draw had a bit of cedar and some hay/grassy flavors mixed in there.
First Third: Well, We’re a quarter inch in and so far its burnt cedar and burnt hay. Did I mention burnt? This may be a faulty ignition job, so I’m going to hold off on the judgment for another half inch or so. I’m now about an inch in and the taste is still holding; burnt cedar and hay. I hope this gets better.
Second Third: No Change.
Last Third: The flavors are getting milder, but we’re still not looking to hot here.
Overall Score: 5/10. 5 points for great construction. I’ll have to check these out again and see if I can’t get a better example of this vitola.
