At least we can still smoke in the Casinos and B&Ms.
DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) - Governor Culver is expected to sign into law today a bill banning smoking in most indoor public places.
The only exceptions are casinos and the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown.
The ban, which begins July 1st, means thousands of bars and restaurants will become smoke-free -- and that has some owners already looking for loopholes.
Some want to establish their businesses as private clubs. Others are exploring opening a retail smoking store in the middle of their bar.
State officials say, however, that Iowa's measure is written so tightly that loopholes will be hard to find.
