I am curious to find out if anyone besides me has tried rolling their own cigars. I got ahold of a couple of pounds of nice PA grown cigar tobacco, the kind marsh wheeling and other american companies put in their cigars. After studying all I could find about rolling on the net I proceeded to roll a few. They arent real pretty since I havent made a press yet but seem to draw ok.
I did smoke one and it wasn't bad but they definitely need ageing now. So we will see what happens. I am also growing some of my own tobacco this year. I have some virginia and turkish for cigarettes and some cigar wrapper and filler types. We shall see how it goes. Just a fun project. Would anyone like to discuss homemades?

that sounds awsome, i knew a guy who used to roll his own and that was all he would smoke, good luck

Thanks for your support guys, I was worried I might get laughed at. Yes, it is just for fun--not to save money or anything.
I am just trying to see how close I can come to the real thing and waste some time playing around. When I get them to the point of being halfway good I will be glad to share some with those interested. Right now I need to wait until it gets a little warmer out so I can build a fermenting/curing chamber to drive the ammonia and nasty stuff out of the tobacco.

I think this is awesome.

Maybe someday you will have enough to start a pass with your homemade sticks. Please count me in if you do.

I'll bet you would get some interesting sticks back too!
