Is it true that Cuban cigars have a very specific taste which makes them different (most experts agree the best), but you can find cigars ranging from light to full body in strength?

Yes!! ;)

Quai d'Orsay and Vegueros are probably the mildest Havanas you will find.
Quintero, Jose Piedras & Vegas Robaina are strong.

seems to me,lately, the real powerhouse cigars are non-cuban.

cuban cigars are the most flavourfull cigars by several orders of magnitude tho...nothing tastes like an habano.

Nicolas,

Welcome to CP. Please make your way to the lobby and introduce yourself. Also please fill out your profile so we know more about you

A response to your question is that - generally, yes, they are. However, a lot of guys here will be able to point out many domestics that are very strong - Joya de Nicuragua for instance. It is better to refer to specific brands or ever specific cigars than the whole classification of cubans. That's like saying all Italian suits are nice.

Is there a specific cigar you're curious about? This has the potential to be a heated topic if you leave it in such general form.

Cheers,
Dixie
