Are you totally against ACID cigars?

I've noticed that there is a lot of bashing of this line from Drew Estate while some of his others get some good/descent reviews.

My question is, are you totally against them? I seen people recently in the 20-28 year range who have never smoked cigars before try these and LOVE some of them then move on to the premium brands and learn more about the hobby or love affair. Thats how I got started because they were interesting, but after smoking some premiums I can see why they get bad reviews. I have also smoked some Lars and they where plain awful compared to the ACID's but I can seewhere people smoke one and think the other is the same.

In ending I want to know if you guys hate them that much and think they should stop making them because they are a horrible thing for cigars or do you think they are something for the younger crowd to get introduced to cigars and then move up to the Big Boys?

To be honest I have a couple problems with the Acid's. First let me say again though as I have many times in the past, I LOVE the Naturals. Great smokes, I love Elixer 5-50's and Green Hero's. I should have some on hands at all times.

The first problem with Acids is storing them. They pretty much demand there own storage solution. Not a problem per say with acrylic jars and tupeware, but still a pain in the arse.

The bigger problem is just taste. I liked the Roam's and Cold Infusion Tea's I had way back when. Tasty, light, smelled good, no big deal, just where to store them. Then I had a 1400 CC. All the stuff they added to that sucker really hurt my throat. What a looser. Who would do this to themselves by smoking one of these things. It's no wonder people hate ACID's. Before you get on me for liking two out of three, I feel the first two are the absolutly lightest of the series and most in the series are more like the 1400 or worse.

As far as others smoking them. Hey to each his own. It's a free country. Make all of them you want as long as you can sell them, right?

I personally would like to try the new Kahlua brand at least once. I hope I at least don't hate them. I so much like Kahlua with my vodka.

I have also tried the spice line a little what ever its called. My brother likes them. I think there OK, especially if he's buying, but again the storage problem.

Ditto on the storage problems.
I have to really be in the mood for them and that is not very often.
I also agree the natural lines are decent.

Should they stop making them? Heck no, there are many folks who like them. I have given some to friends that like flavored (usually small ring) cigars and they love them!

Another problem I have is if I smoke one then every thing else I smoke that day has an "off" taste - not their normal flavor ???

Most of the trashign I see if of a jocular variety. No one will hold it against anyone for liking flavored cigars. It takes all kinds and you gotta do what you enjoy.

I have not tried them all. The ones i did I didn't like. My best friend loves them and wants to buy me some and make me smoke them with him. I told him if he bought I'd smoke it. Last cigar he turned me onto was the jucy lucy wich is a natural and it was awful. I like the pimp stick and will have to try the elixer and the green hero. As far as the acids, keep making them my buddy likes it.

I tried my first Acid cigar not long ago - a buddy of mine gifted me one for being in his wedding party along with some other sticks.

I toasted it, wasn't overly impressed and thought it tasted "strange". Not neccessarily in a bad way but not a good way either. I ended up passing it to a buddy who was over who not only enjoyed it but summed it up>

He said something along the lines of this: As a newbie to cigar smoking I like these - as I like all the cigars I have tried so far, but these remind me in concept to clove cigarettes - a cigar but doesn't taste like a cigar - but something similar to a cigar - just like cloves aren't really cigarettes but remind you of them.

Anyway I think he had a good description of it. For me, the Acid cigars aren't something I particularly want in my humidor. I wouldn't say I am "against" them - to each their own., but they are not for me.

If there is a market for them, ACIDs should and will be made. You won't find them in my humidor, however, and if you tried to put one in with my Cubans, you would die where you stood - stabbed in the neck like Jolly. :D

I keep threatening to try one, but how in the heck do you get past that god-awful smell? Maybe if I held my nose, I would be able to take a puff - not my idea of enjoying a cigar I'm afraid. :sign:

I too enjoy a few of the Naturals, the rabbit is a good one, but storage is definitely a problem. I solve the problem by commiting a small tupperdor to acids alone. Other than the Naturals my experience has been limited and not very impressive. I feel that some of the sticks have way to much added and are to strong!!!

I don't really have a problem with Acid's. Drew found a niche and is exploiting it. That's marketing at it's best. Persoanlly, the few I've tried I did not like. So, I haven't bought anymore.

The only problem I have, and it's really not much of problem, is that marketing to 20-28 years olds, is also marketing to 13-17 year olds, usually.

I have a problem with them being referred to as "cigars"...call them a "smoking alternative" and I'll have no problem. :D

Also...I agree with the "hurting the throat" statement...that was my experience after smoking one.

I also agree with Matt...Drew has done a great marketing job...and if anything, he's probably been a "gateway" for alot of newer people into cigar smoking.

I've had 2 and didn't like either. That won't keep me from trying others if the opportunity presents itself.

Well said, they are not real cigars in my opinion. But, that's just my opinion! :D

Had a Def Sea that was pretty Foul once. But smoked The Egg in the Natural line once and was highly dissapointed by it too. Did have a green hero once that was ok, but from the Acid Line nothing to smoke

Now Lars Teetans, there is a Cigar Man's Cigar

Now, Bill, how can you say that? I've already picked out my spot. You know the chair that is sitting 2 feet from the one you usually sit in. :p As an added benefit, I will be able to provide you with a real time review of the cigar so's you can buy one if I give it a good review. :sign:

listening to a cigar review in real time.....hmmmm...intersting thought but I would pass thank you very much!

I'm not a big fan of them, but I like the way the tobacco in the box smells! I've had the Crush Classics (Tins), and those are pretty good........maybe it was because of the sugar tip ??? Anyways ACID is not on my faves list.

Well when you smoke a real cigar, not an Acid, I will be willing to hear a real-time cigar review. ;)
