Ashtray - Curly Maple #1 - The "curly" figure is caused by the grain of the wood running in waves. The "waves," when sanded and finished, catch and reflect light, exhibiting a chatoyancy reminisent of some gemstones.
The grid under the tray is graduated in 1" squares.

I did the quarter thing just to keep a certain consistency on the site! With the 1" square grid underneath it makes the quarter quite redundant.
